Sure you can go to the Dollar Store and purchase gift wrap. You may be thinking that is the most economical way to go. However, I have some other ideas. You can use things from around your house to wrap your gifts, and yes they will still look pretty!
The news paper is a great wrapping paper alternative!
Use the brighter sections like the comics and bring color under your tree.
Take out menus:
You know you have a couple dozen of them stashed away in your kitchen junk drawer. Go though them and remove all old ones and doubles. These will work out great to wrap small boxes.
You can use these to wrap small boxes.
- If you wrap yarn or ribbon around any of these wrapped gifts, they will look wonderful!
- If you have a gift that has been placed into a box, solid, colored or with a picture, why wrap it at all? Tie it up with some pretty ribbons and a bow!
No paper handy?
Use fabric to wrap your gifts? If you have some scrap fabric, use it in the place of wrapping paper rather than letting it go to waste! Use a ribbon at the top to tie the fabric or use hot glue to holf it together If using hot glue, be careful not to get it on your gift.
You can always recycle your gift bags as well. They do not have to be Christmas themed. You can use any solid color bag to wrap a gift for Christmas.
Hand Decorated Gift Wrap and Gift Bags
What is a better way to personalize a gift than with hand decorated gift wrap or gift bags?
At your local arts and crafts store you can purchase solid colored gift bags. You can get brown, craft paper colored bags or an array of other colors.
Decorate your bags with rubber stamps. Use different colored stamp pads to add color. Or color in the stamped pictures with colored pencils. You can even have your children join in the fun! If rubber stamps are too messy for the children, they can decorate the bags with stickers or color their own pictures onto them with colored pencils or crayons.
Purchase solid colored craft paper and decorate just the same as you did your bags.
However, the brown craft paper looks very nice if used plain and decorated with ribbons and bows to give them color.
If you have smaller gifts to wrap, you can cut open a paper bag and make sure the un-printed side is facing away from the gift. Decorate as you like.
If you have even smaller gifts to wrap, use a piece of construction paper to wrap it and then decorate as you like. A piece of computer paper would work just as well.
