On Fox News Wednesday afternoon the voters got a chance to see how dirty the political wheels can get when rolling through the mud when Mitt Romney crawled out of the Republican abyss to suggests that Donald Trump will have a “bombshell” in his taxes. This is a good sign for Trump, as it means he has the Republican party worried, they can see now that he may very well be the next President of this nation. Romney was taken off the shelf and dusted off as Trump appears unstoppable today. His own party is bringing out the big guns in a sad example of the inner workings of politics, something Trump vows to stop as President.
Romney showed up out of the blue “hitting Donald Trump, his party’s current front runner,” writes CNN News on February 24. He talked with Neil Cavuto on Fox’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” and just by the tone of Romney’s voice you could hear he was on the attack. To sound rather generic, he suggested that each GOP candidate should show their tax documents, but then he put Trump in his scope.
The Blaze reports that Romney continued to go after Trump, but made sure to say how his taxes “became a big issue” in 2012. Romney said, “There are things that could be issues and when people decide they don’t want to give you their taxes it’s usually because there’s something they don’t want you to see.” This sounds like Romney is suggesting that Trump has refused to show his taxes. He has never refused, it is just none of the candidates have made that an issue in this race, so apparently Romney decided it should be?
Are politics that dirty that Trump’s own Republican party would pull Romney out of the archives to do their dirty work? Romney, who is a very respected figure in politics would have made a great president, many believed during his campaign. The former Massachusetts Governor had a few embarrassing things come out of the past to rattle him during his presidential run.
One of the bigger incidents that upset animal lovers in the nation was when Romney put his dog on top of the family car in its crate as the family drove away for vacation. This was back when his family was young. The dog was so frightened that got sick to the point that fluid was running down the side of the car. They pulled over and rinsed down the car and then finished their trip with the car driving down the highway with the poor pooch on top. As The Washington Post writes in an article from back in 2012, the Post calls this an incident something that “still proves to be his critics’ best friend.”
Romney said he has “good reason to believe there’s a bombshell in Trump’s taxes.” The former governor said one too many times that he is asking that Trump divulge his taxes to the public because it was an issue or him during his campaign. It was almost as if it were rehearsed, as if someone coached Romney to make sure that you let them know you are bringing this up because they did this to you during your campaign. Romney repeated this a few times while talking with Neil Cavuto on Fox News early Wednesday evening.
So what else did Romney say? He suggested that we may find Trump isn’t worth nearly the amount he boasts about and he also said that you might find he didn’t give to the veterans as he’s been saying all along. Neil Caputo called Romney on this asking him what has he heard to make him suggest this. He said he didn’t hear or see anything that would suggest this, it is just that he feels Trump is hiding something.
Romney’s own words to Cavuto, “Either he’s not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is, or he hasn’t been paying taxes we would expect him to pay or perhaps he hasn’t been giving money to vets or to the disabled like he’s been telling us he’s been doing”.
Why would anyone care what Trump is worth when he is spending his own money for his campaign and as far as anyone knows, he is paid up on his taxes. For sure if he wasn’t the Democrats would be beating down the political door with that bit of information.
