Mike Rowe is used to “Dirty Jobs” but he is not the one who made a clean getaway after robbing a bank. Rowe did offer up an alibi to police after an Oregon bank was robbed by a man that could be Rowe’s twin if he had one.
According to Fox 8 News on January 6, Rowe admits he does look like the man who robbed the Chase Bank in Medford, but he was nowhere near there. The Medford Police Department has a good sense of humor after posting the pictures of the bank robber taken off of the bank’s surveillance video.
The police thanked all the folks who offered up tips and joked that they issued an arrest warrant for Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs” star. Rowe did say a few times over “I didn’t rob the bank,” since the pictures of his double showed up online. Along with the pictures of the unknown bank robber on the Medford Police Department’s Facebook page they wrote in the caption:
“We had a bank robbery at the Chase Bank, near the corner of Stewart Avenue and Barnett Road (81 E. Stewart Avenue). Occurred about 25 minutes ago. Suspect is a white male, 5’6″-5’8″, small to medium build, beige hat, gray hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans. He was carrying a blue binder.”
The police department’s next post was the one that caught Rowe’s eye. The police write on Facebook:
“Good morning folks. First off, we appreciate all the tips on the bank robbery from yesterday. In fact, thanks to you guys, we issued an arrest warrant for Mike Rowe from the TV show, “Dirty Jobs.” But in the case its not him, keep your eye out and keep the tips coming.”
Mike Rowe posted a Facebook letter to the people of the town where the bank robbery occurred. He writes:
“To The People of Medford Oregon, Those of you up to speed with the Medford Police Facebook Page, (one of the finest pages of it’s kind, incidentally,) are no doubt aware that a white male wearing a ball cap and sweatshirt walked into the Chase Bank over on Stewart Street two days ago and robbed the joint. This had led many to wonder where I was on the day in question”
The lengthy and very funny letter had one last addition. Rowe writes: “PS. For what it’s worth, I was in Kansas Monday, and can prove it, if need be.”
The Medford Police Facebook page is one you might want to read on a daily basis as they sound like they have one heck of a sense of humor. In the next log after the bank robbery, they report how a homeowner came home and found a woman wearing his pants and shoes. She had taken in the Christmas tree that was put out to the curb for garbage and started to decorate it.
It is all in the way these officers write this entry that will give you a chuckle! It is seriously a good way to get the local news as the flare of comedy makes it interesting! Late night hosts could use these officers’ help as someone is a very talented writer on that force!
