The State Department has acknowledged that 22 of the emails found on Hillary Clinton’s server are so top secret that they cannot be released in any form, even redacted, according to the Washington Post. Speculation abounds that the top secret material involves the identification of human intelligence assets. Since the intelligence resided on Clinton’s unsecured server, it is virtually certain that foreign intelligence services, from Russia, China, and Iran, already have the information in their possession. If so, the worst intelligence disaster in American history may well have occurred because Ms. Clinton found using her private email server to be more convenient than using a secured, State Department system.
The revelation comes at a time when Congressman Darrel Issa, R-California has told the Washington Examiner that his sources tell him that the FBI would like to see both Clinton and her top aide Huma Abedin indicted. The possibility of a criminal indictment has cast a pall over Hillary Clinton’s second run for the presidency. If she is indicted, as a practical matter it would be impossible for her to run for president.
The Clintons, Bill and Hillary, have possessed a certain magic in the fact that they have been able to commit what some people regard as crimes and escape prosecution. The affair of the email server may be the one where at least Hillary Clinton’s luck will have run out. The Obama administration may be reluctant to hand down an indictment on the once and present future first female president of the United States. But, the evidence looks to be so overwhelming that it would court disaster if it did not proceed accordingly.
