LPGA golf prize money up for grabs at 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout

The 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout golf tournament for women players on the LPGA Tour is taking place this week from April 28 to May 1, 2016 at the Los Colinas Country Club located in Irving, Texas right next to Dallas. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the women LPGA golfers at the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout.

The Volunteers of America Texas Shootout is a relatively new tournament as it dates back to just 2013. Inbee Park was the inaugural winner and Inbee Park is also the defending champion as she has already won this tournament twice (2013, 2015). The only other winner is Stacy Lewis who won in 2014.

The total prize money up for grabs for the women LPGA golfers at the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout is $1.3 million. The same amount of prize money as last year and every year of this tournament since it started in 2013.

At LPGA Tournaments the winners share is set in stone but the amounts below the winner are can vary a little bit based upon how many women the cut or in this case the two cuts. The more women who tie at the cut lines of 70 and 50 in this tournament the lower the prize amounts will be below the top spot.

  • Winner – $195,000

The winner of the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout will earn a paycheck of $195,000. That is the same amount of prize money that Inbee Park earned last year and also in 2013 when she won this tournament.

  • Second place – $120,000

Second place is worth around $120,000 at the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout. Cristie Kerr and Hee Young Park split $209,252 with each player earning $104,626 when they tied for second place here last year.

  • Third place – $89,000

Third place is worth around $89,000 at the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout. The winner of a LPGA Tournament typically wins or earns 15% of the total prize money up for grabs while the third place finisher gets around 6.7% of the total purse.

  • Fourth place – $68,000

Fourth place at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout is worth around $68,000. Lexi Thompson and Maria McBride split $122,836 with each player earning $61,418 when they tied for fourth place in this tournament last year.

  • Fifth place – $55,000

Fifth place is worth $55,000 at the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout. That is 4.2% of the total prize money up for grabs of $1.3 million. As mentioned above the prize money varies a bit at LPGA Tournaments below the top prize based upon how many women make the cut or cuts in this tournament.

  • Sixth place – $45,000

​Sixth place is worth $45,000. The Volunteers of America Texas Shootout has two cuts. One cut is for the top 70 players or so and the secondary cut occurs after round three to narrow the field to 50 or so players. Women who miss the secondary cut will earn somewhere between $3,000 to $4,000, while the bottom of the top 50 players will earn $5,000 or so.
