With Rand Paul out of the race, his supporters and other Liberty-leaning Republicans are left with little choice but vote Libertarian this election. None of the remaining contenders can claim to be true defenders of Constitutional freedom.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz secured a personal loan in excess of $1 million for his campaign within a week of skipping the Audit the Fed vote. Cruz’s wife Heidi works for Goldman Sachs, which strongly benefits from the Federal Reserve’s existence. Ms. Cruz also belonged to the Council on Foreign Relations, which is responsible for funding and protecting the Military-Industrial Complex. Ron Paul issued a statement following Rand’s withdrawal from the GOP Primary Process outlining many reasons why Cruz is not a libertarian.
Billionaire Donald Trump gives the appearance he is an “outsider,” but he exhibits the identical authoritarian political ideology of his fellow Republicans running for the GOP Nomination. Trump’s support of the USA PATRIOT ACT and expanding NSA Surveillance evidence his dictatorial ruling philosophy. Trump’s virtually unconditional backing of Eminent Domain further tarnishes his claim he will work to defend freedom and liberty.
Ohio Governor John Kasich twice rammed legislation through his state’s Republican-controlled Legislature aimed specifically at keeping Libertarian Party Gubernatorial Candidate Charlie Earl remained off the ballot in 2014 – ensuring Ohio’s voters were not provided a third option in the state’s Gubernatorial Election. After Kasich’s reelection to office, Kasich signed SB 193 in 2015, stripping ballot access in Ohio for all political parties apart from the entrenched Political Duopoly.
Florida Senator Marco Rubio also undoubtedly belongs to the GOP Establishment. In one of the few votes for which he was present, Rubio cast the 60th needed vote for the TPP without even reading the legislation. For his vote, Rubio received millions in donations from multinational corporations benefitting from the bill’s passage – legislation potentially compromising our sovereignty with other nations through giving the United Nations greater treaty authority.
Rand must resist the foolish temptation to wholeheartedly endorse the GOP Nominee, given the treatment given to he and his father received by establishment Republican Party operatives. So far, Rand has wisely declined to back any of the GOP Candidates still vying for the nomination.
Voting for evil is voting for evil – there’s no way to get around that fact. And the enemy of your enemy is not always your friend.
