Lemonade, California’s innovative, chef-driven, fast casual dining concept, is pleased to announce its May 5, 2016 debut in San Francisco on Mission Street at The Metreon. Lemonade Yerba Buena is the first of six new restaurants to open in the Bay Area in 2016—Palo Alto, Walnut Creek, Burlingame, Sunset, and West Portal to follow. The Yerba Buena location will feature several new menu items along with a refreshed, Northern California design.
The sunlit space is the former home of La Boulange at the Metreon. Lemonade provides the perfect answer for those who appreciate easy, casual dining in great, convenient locations, but don’t want to compromise on flavor and high-quality ingredients. ‘Lemonade really is a perfect fit for the Northern California lifestyle and we feel the welcome mat from the community already,’ says Founder/Executive Chef Alan Jackson.
Lemonade boasts an eclectic, vegetable-centric menu that draws from a variety of global influences and changes seasonally four times per year, allowing the restaurant to offer creative dishes to their ever growing fan base at an affordable price point. Anchored by its fresh array of Marketplace Salads, the cafeteria-style setting invites guests to ‘eat colorfully’ by grabbing a tray and choosing from an array of hot and cold seasonal dishes that are designed to mix-and-match, which perfectly fit today’s on-the-go lifestyle. Chef Jackson adds, ‘We are a California brand expanding locally. Bay Area diners have an experienced and demanding palate. They want the most delicious, freshest foods presented in unexpected and surprising ways; Lemonade delivers all of that and more.’
The Spring menu includes:
- Smoked salmon with watercress, bagel chips, and horseradish dressing
- Spring asparagus with cherry tomatoes and tarragon salsa
- Lima beans with strawberries, smoked gouda, and red wine vinaigrette
Signature to the Bay Area locations, Lemonade is adding tossed leafy greens to their menu, which includes Tatsoi and Mizuna lettuce with shaved heirloom carrots and honey roasted peanuts, and baby gem caesar salad. Globally inspired, slow-cooked braised meats are along for the ride, including red miso beef short ribs and lamb shank with olives and capers. Additionally available are artisan sandwiches, hot roasted vegetables, decadent desserts, and the seasonal signature selection of refreshing lemonade flavors, including cucumber mint and blood orange.
Committed to welcoming the varied needs of today’s modern diners, Lemonade offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, as well as a range of distinctive à la carte proteins—such as buttermilk baked chicken and seared ahi tuna. Lemonade is open for lunch and dinner daily, with plans to launch a breakfast menu mid-summer.
Having started his professional cooking career at age18, Alan Jackson’s background in fine dining includes opening Jackson’s and The Farm in Beverly Hills in the mid-90s. Later, Alan’s catering company, Jackson Catering, served a wide variety of noteworthy events like the Golden Globes and SAG awards. Today, Lemonade incorporates Jacksons’ decades of experience in fine dining and fast-paced catering to provide delicious, surprising menu items in an accessible, affordable environment.
Located adjacent to the Metreon on Mission and 4th St., the dining area occupies approximately 2,500 sq. ft., with ample indoor and outdoor seating. California designer Ilan Dei crafted Lemonade Yerba Buena to feature a design unique to the location, with maple wood tables, original artwork, and big sunshine-transmitting windows, among other elements, creating a refreshed, contemporary ambiance.
While taste is paramount to any successful restaurant experience, Lemonade’s new Bay Area locations will be visually appealing and unique as well. Unlike the Southern California outposts, which take their bright and sunny style from the Los Angeles region, the Bay Area locations will feature warmer woods and textures to reflect the cool, foggy climate. President/Partner Ian Olsen explains, ‘Everything about Lemonade is made in California, not just our food, but our furnishings and design as well. Each restaurant is designed to specifically showcase the surrounding neighborhood and community, and Lemonade’s Bay Area locations will have a look and feel all their own.’
Lemonade is a privately held company started in 2008 by Chef Alan Jackson and President/Partner Ian Olsen. Raising the standard of quality and freshness in the industry, Lemonade entices time-crunched but food-savvy individuals with the simple allure of beautifully prepared salads, hearty braised meats, satisfying sandwiches, decadent desserts, and of course, thirst-quenching lemonades. The popular group of California-based fast casual restaurants is known for their unique and seasonally changing menu that provides healthy, farmer’s market-inspired food at an affordable price to its guests in a relaxed, eco-friendly space. The cafeteria-style setting invites guests to eat with their eyes by grabbing a tray and selecting from a colorful variety of prepared Marketplace dishes.
There are currently 22 California locations in Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County and San Francisco, with plans to open five additional Bay Area restaurants in 2016. The company was named on Restaurant Business ‘The Fastest Growing Small Chains in America’ list in 2015 and recently on QSR magazine’s ‘Ones to Watch’ list.
