Legoland Florida turns five years old in 2016, and the park has a birthday party on tap, along with a full year of fun events:
Jan. 29: “The LEGO Movie 4D A New Adventure” premiere. This movie continues the story started in “The Lego Movie,” with Emmet, Wyldstyle, Unikitty, MetalBeard and Benny facing a new villain, Risky Business. See it throughout the year in the Wells Fargo Fun Town Theater. You can read more about it here.
Saturdays and Sundays, Feb. 6-28: “The LEGO Movie 4D” Weekends. Celebrate the movie’s grand opening with expanded park houses and new activities, including character greetings with everyone featured in the movie. Emmet and Wyldstyle are staples at the park, but imagine meeting other favorites like Benny, MetalBeard, and Unikitty! Each night is capped with a fireworks display.
March 12: The Legoland Water Park opens for the season. It will have a brand new attraction for kids in an expanded area with a nautical twist. The water park operates select days through October.
April 16: Brick Dash 5K Fun Run and Walk to benefit Winter Haven Hospital Foundation’s Fund for Women and Children. Run or walk through Florida theme park no matter what your level; the event is geared to everyone of any age. You must register in advance and pay a nominal fee. If you’d like to visit the park after the run/walk, discounted admission is available.
Saturdays and Sundays, June 18–July 31: Legoland Night Lights. This brand-new summer event features expanded park hours, high-energy dance parties, special light displays, and more. Stick around for the brick-tacular fireworks show above Lake Eloise every night of the event, including a special patriotic show on July 4th.
Sept. 10 and 11: Lego Club Weekends Featuring Lego Star Wars. Lego Darth Vader will be on hand, along with a Master Model Builder to share tips on building a Lego Star Wars set. There will also be a Yoda scavenger hunt, a Star Wars mural that guests help to build, and firewords on both nights.
Select dates in October: Brick or Treat. This event is friendly, with no fear for kids. They go trick-or-treating along the Brick or Treat Trail, see larger-than-life Lego models, and participate in Lego build activities. There’s also a scavenger hunt with prizes, and an exclusive Halloween-themed fireworks show in Pirates’ Cove.
Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28: Firefighter Fridays (in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association). This fun kick-off to the NFPA’s Fire Prevention Week features educational activities that teach kids the importance of fire safety. Every Friday during the month, you’ll meet some of the real-life fire fighting heroes who help keep Polk County safe.
Oct. 15: Leogland Florida’s fifth birthday. The park has grown in leaps and bounds, with additions like the Legoland Water Park, World of Chima, Duplo Valley, Heartlake City and the Legoland Hotel. Its birthday will be a surprise-packed day of celebration.
Select dates in December: Christmas Bricktacular. This annual holiday celebration, returns with a spectacular 30-foot-tall Christmas tree made of thousands of Lego and Duplo bricks. There are plenty of other decorations, including Lego Santa with his reindeer and sleigh. Participate in holiday-themed scavenger hunts with prizes and work alongside the Master Model Builders. Each evening ends with a not-so-silent-night fireworks spectacular set to classic Christmas songs.
Dec. 31: Kids’ New Year’s Eve. Ring in the new year at a kid-friendly hour. The giant LEGO brick drops early, and kids can move and groove at an exclusive dance party and wind down the year and celebrate with fireworks before their bedtime.
