Des Moines French bistro Le Jardin and Knoxville’s Peace Tree Brewing Company are joining forces again for their annual Fat Tuesday Beer Dinner. The 2016 event will be held at the brewery’s tap room in Knoxville on Tuesday, February 9. The festivities will kick off with passed appetizers and a welcome beer at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Reservations are required for the dinner, and space is limited. Reservations may be made by calling Peace Tree at (641) 842-2739, or by going through the brewery’s website. Advance payment is required, and the dinner will cost $60 per person, including tax and gratuity. Additional beers, beyond the dinner’s pairings, may be purchased on the night of the event.
Le Jardin’s Chef Tag Grandgeorge has planned a special New Orleans-inspired multi-course menu for the event. Here is a look at what Chef Grandgeorge has in the works for this year’s event:
–Smoked cheddar grits with okra and stewed tomato relish
–Salami toast, olive salad, and blood orange crème fraiche

–Mardi Gras Cobb Salad: mixed greens, spicy capicolla ham, provolone cheese, grilled peppers, pickled shrimp and tortellini skewer, and Sour Kettle remoulade dressing

–Chicken and Andouille Creole: smoked tomato and Cornucopia beer-braised chicken, Andouille sausage creole over white rice, Rye Porter smoked sweet corn, and jalapeno cornbread
