Today is Thursday, December 31 and truly the last days and hours of 2015, we all want to see this year out with a bang. But as we’re ushering in 2016, Lauren Conrad stepped in at LaurenConrad.com today with 5 ways one wants to avoid a hangover the morning after, and Best of 2015 concludes with LC.com’s best recipes.
With help from Kelly LeVeque, Lauren says drink plenty of water like a couple of glasses before you head out to the party, and a couple more glasses before you go to sleep. Also, eat a high protein high fat dinner as it slows down ethanol absorption, same goes the morning after as eggs have cysteine breaking down acetaldehyde which causes hangovers.
When drinking, avoid dark-colored drinks like bourbon, brandy, red wine, wet white wine, malt liquor and whiskey as they contain congeners and compounds that make hangovers worse, drink sugar-free concoctions or gin and vodka with tonic or club soda instead. Plus, boost electrolytes with Vitamin C, B Vitamins, amino acids, and glucose to generate glutathione that fights hangover.
Booze practices the night before determine not only what the morning after will be like, but what the rest of the day after waking up will play out to be. One has two options, either workout to release endorphins and feel better but at the risk of being dehydrated more from sweat, or sleep as much as possible throughout the day followed by long, restful sleep New Year’s Night.
Once you’ve recovered by Saturday morning and can tolerate all food again, look at LC.com’s final Best of 2015 piece celebrating their 10 best recipes. One of Lauren Conrad Examiner’s favorites was raw vegan strawberry cheesecake without a hint of dairy or vegan cheese added, but good stuff like cashews, dates, bananas, and coconut milk.
Let’s not forget memorable recipes like 5 fructose-free smoothies, homemade pop tarts, making spaghetti squash, and Lauren’s unforgettable wedding apple pie. There’s also cotton candy champagne cocktail, grilled avocado salad with green goddess dressing, savory roman pasta done 4 ways, cinnamon sugar churro cake, and guilt-free recipes to make with your spiralizer.
We made it through another holiday season, and New Year’s Eve is the climax to not only to the holidays, but to 2015. We strive to make 2016 another good year, and Lauren Conrad Examiner is nothing but grateful for the opportunity everyday to write about Lauren Conrad and aspects related to it, along with LCE’s own adventures, Happy New Year.
