I thought it would be important to start this review with directions on how to get to the restaurant. La Stanza Restaurant is located inside the Labriola Café and Bakery. You will not see any signs on the outside of the building with the name La Stanza. The address for the restaurant is 535 N. Michigan. However, that is the entrance to the residence tower on Michigan Avenue… not the restaurant. The entrance to Labriola Chicago is located on the promenade on the south side of the building. If you’re standing in front of 535 N. Michigan, just walk 30 feet south and make a left at the promenade… you can’t miss it. The entrance is actually just east of the Grand Avenue overpass.
There is a parking garage conveniently located on St Claire Street (one block east of Michigan Ave). It’s about a 3 minute walk from the garage to the restaurant.
Upon entering the Labriola Chicago you will notice several distinct areas: the bar area to the left as you walk in; the Café area in the middle; and the Bakery / Gelato and take out on the right. The La Stanza Restaurant is located at the back of the restaurant.
La Stanza Ristorante has a large main room and private room that can accommodate around 30 people comfortably. The private room is a great space for corporate events, private parties, etc.
La Stanza Ristorante now offers brunch every Sunday from 10am – 4pm.
I highly recommend you arrive at the restaurant hungry. You’re not going to be able to control yourself with their:
- Shrimp Polenta with Poached Egg
- Banana Almond French Toast
- Papardelle and Bucatini Pasta
- Chicken and Biscuits
- Bagels and Lox
- Breakfast Pizzas
Each one of these is wonderful by themselves… collectively, they are outstanding. This is certainly not your typical brunch.
In addition to their spectacular breakfast dishes, they also have table-side Prosecco Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s.
And to top it all off, they also offer a Donut Bar featuring Stan’s Donuts. Stan’s donut station allows you to customize your glazed donut(s) with caramel, chocolate, sprinkles, and a number of other toppings.
The food is terrific and the jazz band elevates La Stanza to a new level. When I visited La Stanza, jazz band was made up of a saxophonist and a xylophone musician. It was the perfect soft background music.
If you’re looking for great Sunday brunch, La Stanza should be on your must-try list. They get high marks for their menu selection, their service, and their quality.
