The results are finally in. The 4th Annual Klosterman Bread Company Pink Ribbon Loaf Campaign raised and donated $10,000 to a local charity, Pink Ribbon Girls. The check was presented by Klosterman Bread last week in the offices of Pink Ribbon Girls at 15 South 2nd St., Tipp City.
Helping to celebrate the fight, struggles and the survivors of thousands of men and women affected by breast cancer, Klosterman’s Baking Company wanted to help. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Klosterman Bread vowed to donate 100% of the proceeds from their specially promoted pink packaged loaves of bread sold throughout a six-week period to Pink Ribbon Girls, which is a local foundation that provides benefits for breast cancer patients in the local area.
“We were excited to support such an important and meaningful cause and to see the success that comes from our efforts is very fulfilling,” said Kim Klosterman, CEO, Klosterman Baking Company. “We hope to continue sharing the importance of breast cancer awareness, healthy living and nutrition for women through this campaign by selling Pink Ribbon Loaves.”
Almost everyone knows someone that has or had breast cancer. The vicious affliction affects not only the patient but also the whole family. It affects relationships with friends, extended family and event the workplace. It affects financial issues, home keep up and much, much more. Through the struggles, the only thing that matters is getting the patient cured. Klosterman shares the sentiment during the month of October by spreading awareness of breast cancer and hoping to not only help with a cure but to educate their customers.
Show your support to the Pink Ribbon Girls, a local Ohio group dedicated to balancing the fear and uncertainty that breast cancer brings to individuals and families by providing direct services, education, and support. During the month of October, Klosterman Bread will sell Pink Loaves in support of the Pink Ribbon Girls!
This is the fourth year for the family owned, a Cincinnati company, Klosterman Baking Company’s support of breast cancer with the Pink Loaves and second year supporting The Pink Ribbon Girls. Now, until the end of October, the proceeds raised from the Pink Loaf campaign aim to help The Pink Ribbon Girls launch new educational and support efforts to expand women’s knowledge of breast cancer. For women in the United States, death rates from breast cancer are higher than any other cancer and one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
The Pink Ribbon Girls is an organization built by two cancer survivors, Tracie Metzger and Heather Salazar, and provides support to breast cancer patients, survivors, and families. They provide education and outreach programs. No women should ever feel alone when battling something that is known to so many other women and men. Breast cancer isn’t just found in women, although the majority is, but men are also facing the battle as well.
“It’s great to see companies such as Klosterman Baking Company get involved with important causes and we’re thrilled to partner with them for the Pink Ribbon Loaves donation campaign,” Founder/Director of Development of the Pink Ribbon Girls, Tracie Metzger said, “Support like this is vital to expanding our efforts and reaching the younger community of women that need education on Breast Cancer Awareness.”
Heather Salazar, Executive Director of The Pink Ribbon Girls, was touched by cancer in two different ways. First, while caring for a young woman, Alexis, who was nearing the end of her battle with Stage IV breast cancer and needed a home for her baby girl, Lexi. Salazare and her family decided to adapt Lexi and raise her as their own. Alexis died at age 24. Later, Salazare was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 31 and now is a proud survivor.
Consumers showed support by purchasing specially marked Pink Loaves in local grocery aisles where participating items are sold. Collectively, Klosterman Bread reached its goal of raising $10,000 for Pink Ribbon Girls. With the help of this donation, the organization expects to launch new educational and support efforts to expand young women’s knowledge on breast cancer.
Look for the specially marked “Pink Ribbon” loaves next year to help support a great cause. The Pink Ribbon Girls motto is, “We Survive. We Grow. We Live. We Inspire. We Educate.”
Let’s join together and fight the disease as a community.
