Joey Feek has died and gone to heaven according to her husband Rory’s Friday, March 4 post on his blog “This Life I Live.” Rory, Joey’s partner through life penned a memorable and beautiful tribute to his late wife that will leave all her reads it in tears.
Rory’s touching tribute reads,
“My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven.”
The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior. At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying.. my precious bride breathed her last. And a moment later took her first breath on the other side. As I held her hand and kissed her goodbye one last time.
As previously reported, Rory Feek revealed last week that Joey’s condition had rapidly worsened just after their baby daughter Indian turned two.Rory has revealed that the time has come and that the family has said their sad goodbyes stating that Joey arrived at her final goal living to see her baby girl Indiana reach her second birthday.
“Over the last number of weeks her pain had gotten worse and her health had continued to decline rapidly,” her dear husband Rory wrote in February. 29 blog post. “And not long after Indy’s birthday, my wife decided that ‘enough is enough’. She was ready to stop fighting and she told me so. Joey gathered her family together around her and she said goodbye to each of them… to her mother and father and her three sisters. And then she asked me to bring our baby in. And so… I set our little Indy on Joey’s lap and we all cried with my wife as she told her how much her mama loved her and, “…you be a big girl for your papa… and that mama will be watching over you”. And then she pulled Indiana up and she kissed her. One last kiss.”
Rory goes on to say that Joey has been asleep “for days now” and her body is “shutting down quickly.”
Such a sad and heartbreaking time for the family. It is such a tribute to Joey the way Rory has spent the final months with her and their children making sure that every moment counted. Just as much as Joey is to be commended on her brave battle, Rory should be respected also proving once again that faith and love will remain even in the darkest and saddest times.
Rory also added that he and his children would be returning to their home in Tennessee very soon. “It’s hard for me to imagine being there without Joey, but at the same time… it is where she wants us to be. It’s where she will be… She’s gonna be in the mint growing beside our back deck, the sweet-corn frozen in our freezer and a million other places that her hand and heart has touched around our little farmhouse and community. Joey will still be with us. Everywhere.
So if it’s okay, I’m gonna close, wipe my tears and pack our bags to hit the road headed south.
She’s already got a head-start on me. “
Rest in peace Joey Feek. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Feek family during this difficult time.
