Everyone was patiently waiting for the “Jill and Jessa: Counting On” program to begin to see all the exciting events that left fans hanging after the first show aired last week. What a surprise it was to tune into TLC to discover that the first program of the three-part series was rerunning again prior to the second part of the series. It was a slight disappointment to those who already have seen this episode and a great delight to those who weren’t able to catch the first segment of their show .Having both parts air back-to-back gave fans more of the Duggar girls that they love so much and a chance to catch the little things that may have been missed the first time around.
The second installment of the “Jill and Jessa: Counting On” show aired this evening featuring Jessa’s coed baby shower, a touching and heartbreaking interview with Anna Duggar. It also included a fun baby-food competition created by Ben Seewald for the guys and the tearful, good-bye’s to family and friends as Jill and Derick Dillard begin their new life and mission work in Central America.
Anna Duggar said things have shifted a lot since she and Josh left the D.C. area. Prior to the police report that was a major life changer for Josh, Anna and the Duggar family, Anna explained that Josh wanted to begin a relationship with her and discussed his past with her and her parents so they all would know what happened when he was young so she could make her own decision whether or not to develop a relationship together. They fell in love, courted, married and had three beautiful children together. Once of the most devastating moments during this time in her life that really hurt the most was Josh being unfaithful after knowing their marriage meant everything to her and she felt so betrayed by learning of his acts of cheating.
Anna is still wearing her wedding rings, has spent many days crying and prays that her marriage can be restored. When she got married she vowed for better or for worse and she plans to continue praying, to find the grace and strength she needs to continue and when Josh is released from the rehabilitation center she is intent on making her marriage work with her husband she promised herself to for life. Anna kept herself together very well, there were a few times when it seemed she would break down and cry. Her voice cracked and her eyes did being to fill up with tears, but she fought the urge and kept her head high with her wishes, desires, thoughts and future plans for her family in focus instead of falling apart on screen or harping on the past events. She is a strong woman with a big heart and wants nothing more than to move forward and put the past where it belongs, in the past.
The Duggar girl’s plans out a bunch of games that the women could play including diapering a baby blind folded and counting candies in a jar. The guys went shopping for baby food and wanted to make the baby shower extra special which included the men in the family and a baby food making contest so they’ll all be included in the fun, family time and excitement as they all await the birth of Jessa and Ben’s first child. Jessa thinks it will be very interesting to see who makes the best tasting baby food. Some of the items they shopped for weren’t really foods that a baby normally would eat such as steak, Peso sauce, hot sauce, steak sauce, hot peppers and beans because they felt baby food is just too bland and needs something to spice it up a notch.
Jinger is very glad that Anna is back with the Duggar family and sharing a room with the other Duggar girls. They are all happy to be together and are having a grand-old time planning the baby shower for Jessa. The shower was held at Holland Farms in Arkansas with a party planner that also helped with their weddings. Anna feels wonderful and excited to be present with Jessa and Ben as they celebrate the upcoming birth of their first child and she also wishes more than anything that Josh was there to share these special moments with her, their children and the rest of the family.
The excitement built up during the diaper competition and out of all the girls and women present Jessa was the winner. Next came the baby food contest and most of the guys were blending some really strange foods together, but Ben decided to choose foods that were different and more healthy. Some of the outcomes of the prepared foods were described as weird and nutritional and believe it or not Ben won the contest. Jill and Derrick were very glad to be present for the baby shower knowing full well they wouldn’t be able to be back from Central America to witness or help with the birth of Jessa’s baby.
Israel has gotten so big and continues to get more adorable each day. After the shower Jill and Derrick headed to the airport with everyone to go back to continue their mission work. There were plenty of tears, hugs, kisses and photos being taken before they headed towards the gate where their plane was awaiting their arrival. Jessa and Jill said it was really hard to have to say goodbye to each other but understand they have their own goals in life that need to be fulfilled.
While Derrick is going out of their home in Central American for schooling, Jill isn’t able to do the same. She is able to stay home with Israel and get home schooling to learn how to speak Spanish. Although she would love to go together with her husband it is wonderful that she’s able to share more time with her son even though there are times when his needs can be distracting during lesson time.
Jessa and Ben were contacted by an adoption agency just when they found out they were expecting. It is common practice that an adoption isn’t an option when a couple is expecting, but were told that they will contact them again once their child is nine months old or older if they still want to consider adopting a child. They were asked if they would have nineteen children too, Ben said time will tell and he didn’t know one way or the other. Jessa spoke up and said she wants a large family but not necessarily all of them will be biological children because they are still very interested in adopting a child in the near future and maybe more later down the road.
Ben and Jill hope that they can immerse themselves in the culture of the area and learn more about the people that inhabit Central America. One village woman, Lydia, made a sling for Jill to carry Israel in which is comforting for him and makes breast feeding easier. Jill said that she and Derrick talked about avocados being Israel’s first food to try and when he was given his first taste he seemed to like it very much and wanted more. Israel finally had his first solid food and it was the one food they his parents joked about him trying first too.
Jessa and Ben had a little picnic lunch together. They forgot to bring silverware with them but enjoyed a pie and pickles together. Jessa wasn’t sure if she was craving pickles or just wanted some because she and her whole family has a love for pickles. Now Ben seems to be a fan of them as well.
Be sure to mark the calendar for Sunday, December 27 to tune into TLC at 9:00 p.m. EST to see the final episode of “Jill and Jessa: Counting On”. It has been revealed that during this last show there will be scenes shared about Jessa being in labor and her trip to the hospital, the birth of her child and Jessa and Ben also have dinner plans with some friends of theirs who have already been through the adoption process. Are Jessa and Ben still interested in adopting a child? How long will they want to wait before making a final decision to adopt or do they already have a plan worked out already?
