If you’re looking for a delicious treat that not only tastes good but looks good too, then head to Jacques Torres Chocolates! There are eight locations for the shop – all of them in Manhattan. The quintessential Big Apple chocolate shop, Jacques Torres Chocolates creates handmade artisan chocolates of every kind, shape and size for just about every occasion. If you’re looking for last-minute Passover treats, Mother’s Day chocolates, or something New York touristy, Mr. Chocolate has you covered.
Jacques Torres comes from France, where he became a Master Pastry Chef, learning the best culinary techniques in the business. In 1986, he became the youngest pastry chef in history to earn the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman of France) medal in pastry. He established the Jacques Torres Chocolates line in New York in 2000, creating both retail boutiques and chocolate factories throughout the city. After 16 years, the chef has his original DUMBO retail location, a chocolate bar in SoHo, a retail shop in Rockefeller Center, his newest location and even an ice cream stand both at Grand Central Station. Each of the locations has something different to offer, so stop by each one!
Jacques uses real, preservative-free ingredients in every handcrafted chocolate he creates.
“I grew up using natural and REAL ingredients in the South of France and I bring that philosophy to you. Chocolate is good for you.”
Earlier this year, to celebrate his recent 15th anniversary and to give his thanks to the Big Apple, Jacques created a New York Collection, featuring five different chocolates boxed in their own New York-illustrated container. The images on the front of the boxes are all icons of New York: the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Big Apple, a taxi cab, and a subway car. The chocolates inside are all chocolates that you know you’ll love: chocolate-covered orange peels, caramelized peanuts (take these to the baseball game!), chocolate-covered pomegranates, chocolate-covered blueberries (have a bite of these as you walk through Central Park), and chocolate-covered ginger. Each of the delicious chocolates are handmade in Mr. Chocolate’s Brooklyn factory.
For last-minute Passover gifts, Jacques developed special treats for his Jewish friends, including: chocolate-covered matzo, chocolate peanut butter matzo, coconut delights, Jewish star chocolate lollipops, and Shalom bars in white, milk or dark chocolate – each one is more tasty than the last! And for all those moms out there, you’ll want to pick up some delicious sunflower lollipops, pig chocolates, and Mom plaques.
Tell someone you love and appreciate them through any of Jacques’ delicious artisan treats. Each one is a work of art. And what’s better than art that you can eat?
