Whether it’s big or small, Pine View Golf Course has tournament and wedding packages for 2016 to suit organizers of them all.
By being a full-service 36-hole property in the east-end of Ottawa, Pine View supplies groups of any size from nine to 288 with flexible tee-time planning coupled with a huge selection of lunch and dinner choices via an association with Bytown Catering. The respected food preparation service company prepares and serves a wide variety of meal packages (steak, chicken, ribs, pasta, salads, Mexican dishes and more) that fit the budgets of any groups choosing to hold their event at Pine View.
Pine View goes a step further by offering online registration through its website and the process can include the meal, too. “Our online booking service helps streamline event planning and I check each day to simplify things for the organizer,” said Ben Patenaude, Pine View’s tournament/event co-ordinator. He adds that tournament fees have not gone up for 2016. “Our fees are the same as they’ve been for the past couple of years. Groups, organizations and families can book their events for as low as $25 per golfer, with all taxes in.”
Also on the list of options are the choices of the number of holes that can be played, whether it be three, six, 12 or the full 18. “We are able to set-up tournaments so everyone finishes their games at the same time so they can have the meal and prize ceremony together,” Patenaude said. “And we have options like having a larger hole on one of the greens, placing two holes on a green, having a closest to the keg contest, setting up activities for tournament organizers who don’t play, as well as all of the traditional features associated with a tournament.”
Course conditioning improvements, additions and several cool game features keep things fun on the fairways and greens for men and women. Pine View renovated its bunkers in 2014 with new sand and edging and put in fairway bunkers on the Championship Course’s No. 5 and No. 8 holes. These upgrades were followed by a bridge being installed over the ravine on the par 3 No. 12 and No. 18 has been transformed from a par 4 into a dynamic par 5 finishing hole.
The Championship Course at Pine View is now a par 72 parkland design. The mature style layout provides ample landing areas for tee shots as well as large putting surfaces. The Executive Course plays to a par of 64 and measures 4,025 yards in length. Players use all of their clubs because the tee-to-green distances feature quite a variety. “By having two very different courses, we’re able to provide options when meeting with clients,” Patenaude said. “If time is tighter, our Executive Course is ideal in that the length and design – it has nine par threes, eight par fours and one par five – combine to complete tournaments in shorter time frames.”
Couples looking for a wedding/reception venue should know that Pine View is a prime location for parties of up to 200. The picturesque property provides areas for the ceremony, meal and photos. Pine View will have an exhibit at this weekend’s Wedding Palace Bridal Show in the Shaw Centre.
