Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, and in Gettysburg folks will be celebrating with various special paddy events. So just remember, if you’re lucky enough to be Irish on this day, you’re lucky enough. But if you’re lucky enough to be in Gettysburg, you’re even luckier.
At Reid’s Winery and Cider House Café, you’re cordially welcome to come out and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a different kind of way—with a toast to the Civil War’s Irish Brigade. Blend history and drink as Licensed Battlefield Guide Larry Korczyk comes out to the Cider House between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to share with guests the accounts of war from a Civil War soldier’s perspective in the Irish Brigade during the Battle of Gettysburg. After recounting events, thoughts, sentiments, and personal agonies and triumphs, you will pay tribute to this group of brave fighters with a good old Irish toast. Enjoy a pint of one of Reid’s own hard crafted small batch ciders or a glass of premium wine. A pre-fixe menu for the evening will also be available at an additional cost for meal.
This event at Reid’s Orchard costs $15 a person to attend, not included the pre-fixe menu. Reid’s Winery and Cider House is located at 400 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325. For more information, call 717-334-7537 or click here.
Also taking place tomorrow evening will be a special St. Patrick’s Day Irish Concert with Cormorant’s Fancy. The event will take place at Battlefield Bed & Breakfast, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., for the cost of $12 a person (plus tax). From soaring vocals to lively reels and jigs, you will enjoy a toe-taping musical decent back to the Emerald Isle, all from the warm, welcoming Solarium of the Bed and Breakfast. Guests are welcome to sing along to the songs and ballads they know so well, clapping to the beat in an evening full of fun and folly. Your Irish eyes will be smiling even more at the presentation of light desserts and refreshments served at the musicians’ set break. During this time, you can enjoy a wee bit of Irish trivia too, while you meet and mingle with fellow green-wearing event goers. Please note that while dessert will be included as part of the evening festivities, this is a BYOB event.
Battlefield Bed & Breakfast is located at 2264 Emmitsburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325. For more information, call 717-334-8804 or visit this link.
Remember there will be several other Paddy-pleasing events ongoing throughout town this week in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. So be sure to keep those Irish eyes smilin’ and open to what’s around.
