Jay has just been added to the performance lineup at the La Lakers’ Metta World Peace’s NBA All Star Event along with Silento. Jay Evans sat down for an interview with Celebrity Examiner Jae Monique to discuss his music career and his involvement with the movie “Sons 2 The Grave.”
Jae Monique: How long have you been an artist?
Jay Evans: 11 years.
JM: How did it feel to be added to the performance lineup at the LA Lakers NBA All-Star event?
Evans: It was a good feeling, getting to perform that weekend.
JM: Tell us about your music career?
Evans: Well, it started when I was a boy being in the studio with my mom, she taught me everything. I am a versatile artist, I sing RnB, Hip Hop, Pop and a few more genres., but with the singing, I found another talent which was my songwriting and producing. So everything you hear from me will be mostly produced and written by me. So you can say I am a triple threat. But most of all, I enjoy doing what I love because I can influence and help other young artists in that are coming up in the industry. In the next couple months, I will be releasing High Rollin’ which is featured in the movie “Sons 2 the Grave”, a movie from Have Faith Productions. Also, with my music career, it has landed me with a few other song placements in other movies such as “Razor Blade City”, “King of Baltimore”, “Can’t Complain” and “Torn.” I had a single “Baby Girl” on the radio that charted top ten in Canada back in 2004
JM: How did you get involved with the movie “Sons 2 the Grave”?
Evans: First, it started off writing a song for a scene for the movie and then one thing led to another, and Have Faith Productions contacted me to offer the opportunity to score the movie. I took the challenge because I love taking on new challenges and now you can say it’s history because the movie is due to be released this year.
JM: Tell us about “Sons 2 The Grave”
Evans: Sons 2 The Grave is a film about choices we make and the consequences that can take you down. Eighteen-year-old basketball Phenom Marcus Jennings was murdered, after midnight, on a footbridge dividing homes of the rich and politically connected from poverty stricken Hudson. Friends remain silent, giving power to a killer, binding them for life. Celebrity attracts the good the bad and the ugly, not always clearly defined, but in the end, it’s what they all had in common that ended Marcus’ life … fear. Fear of staying, fear of leaving and the fear of appearing weak.
Sons 2 The Grave is a gritty and honest film from Toronto based Have Faith Productions, written and produced by Lynne Stoltz, directed by Actor/ Director, Mykelti Williamson.
