Sandy Spring’s new coastal italian concept, il Giallo Osteria & Bar, is now offering lunch.
The authentic Italian eatery is the latest project from two Veni Vidi Vici alums, executive chef Jamie Adams and general manager Leonardo Moura. The pair wanted to create a restaurant that accurately represented the foods and flavors found along Italy’s Coastal regions. To capture this charm and freshness, the new spot is anchored by a chef’s table where the culinary team makes fresh pasta in front of guests. Adams and Moura opened il Giallo last month with every intention of offering midday options – but only if they did it right.
“We wanted to ease into it slowly and make sure that our dinner service was absolutely perfected before we started serving lunch,” Adams said.
Just like the dinner menu, the new lunch offerings emphasizes variety. Adams and Moura have included salads, sandwiches, fresh pastas and lunch-specific entrees. Those craving Adam’s signature dishes won’t be disappointed. He’s also offering dinner favorites at lunch like the Roasted Branzino, Grilled Trout, Roasted Duck Fotina and Brown Butter and Sage Anolotti – a dish The Food Network featured on “The Best thing I Ever Ate”.
While you can’t go wrong at il Giallo, Adams has a few recommendations for those stopping in for a quick bite.
“One of the sandwiches guests are really commenting about at lunch is the Leonardo, which is grilled chicken breast, roasted garlic robiola, crispy pancetta and red onions,” he said. “Of course, if they haven’t been to il Giallo, I would also recommend they sample some of our fresh pasta dishes.”
If you’re swinging by for dinner, Chef Adams says his most popular dishes have quickly become the Veal Parmigiana, Whole Roasted Fish, NY Strip Pizzaiola and, of course, the fresh pastas. Guests can choose between a large or small version of the pasta if they want the opportunity to sample a few. Those looking to indulge can enjoy pastry chef Libby Muldower’s sweet creations. She’s also a Veni Vidi Vici veteran and Adams says she’s “knocking it out of the park” – particularly with her Strawberry Pizza and Bombolini that’s drizzled with honey and fresh whipped cream.
Overall, the il Giallo crew is settling in nicely in Sandy Springs. Adams says the people in the Sandy Springs and neighboring Buckhead and Dunwoody communities are always looking for a nice place to enjoy lunch and he’s thrilled to offer that experience. His team is feeling the love as well.
“We couldn’t have imagined a warmer welcome from our neighborhood,” he said. “Everyone who comes into the restaurant is incredibly supportive and excited that we are now a part of the community. Our guests really enjoy watching the fresh pasta being made and are surprised by how entirely different extremely fresh pasta tastes from the type they are used to eating.”
The 140 seat space is located at 5920 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Guests can stop in for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 to 3 p.m. You can check out the full lunch menu here.
