There has been a ton of gaming news to drop over the past few days and among it all was the news that Homefront: The Revolution will be receiving an exclusive Xbox One beta this coming February, and that Capcom’s Umbrella Corps has been delayed into this May.
In addition to the beta, Deep Silver also announced a new a new online co-op mode called Resistance Mode. You can check out the trailer they released above. Resistance Mode is said to be a “brand new four-player co-operative online experience.” Gamers will form a Resistance Cell with others online and battle the KPA military in story-oriented quests throughout the city of Philadelphia.
“Customize your personal roster of Freedom Fighters as you and your teammates go from rookie civilians to battle hardened soldiers. Unlock new skills, earn weapon blueprints, rare equipment and combat gear to upgrade,” Deep Silver wrote.
Getting back to the Homefront closed beta, select gamers on Xbox One will be able to gain access to it from Feb. 11 through Feb. 14. If you are a member of the Homefront community, Deep Silver said you will be “invited to participate in a sneak preview of Resistance Mode” through one of the Xbox One closed beta tests they will have on Friday Jan. 29 and Friday Feb. 5.
Hasit Zala, who is the game director at Dambuster Studios, spoke about the upcoming open-world game and the ambition the team has for Homefront: The Revolution. “Homefront: The Revolution is this team’s most ambitious project yet.”
“In addition to our epic 30-plus hour single-player campaign, we expect to launch Resistance Mode with 12 Missions, packed with re-playability, and hope to release another 20 Missions within the first year. To ensure our community can always play together, all Resistance Mode Missions will be free to download,” Zala said.
Deep Silver has more information and goodies for those who wish to pre-order the game. Homefront: The Revolution will launch on May 20 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Switching gears to Capcom’s upcoming multiplayer shooter, Umbrella Corps, the publisher revealed the game will now be releasing sometime during May 2016 for PS4 and PC. The game embraces gameplay between one to six players, and Capcom revealed a new mode called The Experiment.
This mode will force gamers to be an expert with their skills as they try to complete more than 20 different missions throughout the world of Umbrella Corps. Mission objectives will differ and the “coliseum style horde-like mode strips players of the Zombie Jammer device that provides perilous protection in multiplayer modes.”
Each wave of creatures will progressively become more and more difficult. Umbrella Corps will be launched on PS4 and PC this coming May, with a specific release date soon to be announced.
