For the first time ever, the OC Fair & Event Center, located in Costa Mesa, CA, has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland, known as Winter Fest, that includes ice tubing, ice skating, the world’s largest walk-through ornament, reindeer viewing and feeding, a carnival midway, seasonal-themed eateries, bounce houses, and a nightly Christmas tree lighting ceremony with snowfall. This Absolute Event Solutions production also features the North Pole where guests can find model trains, craft making and video games, and Santa and Mrs. Claus. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages six to 12 and is open daily at 11 a.m. through January 3, 2016. Parking is $7.
Guests will enjoy whizzing down the 130-foot, six lane ice slide, known as Snowflake Summit, on inner tubes. The tubing area is in a covered building, but luckily the temperatures don’t have to be freezing to keep the ice cool. No need to bundle up in snow gear to enjoy this attraction. The snow tubing is included with admission, but for those who don’t want to wait in line, a Fast Pass is available for an additional $10.
The 6,000-square-foot indoor ice skating rink is always a hit with young and old. For those wanting to watch from the sidelines, there is viewing area around the rink and VIP Cabanas are available for $99 for three hours. Ice skating costs $15 and includes skates. Sessions typically last one hour. Cocoa, cookies, and other seasonal treats are available for purchase.
The Candy Cane Carnival has 30 popular rides such as a Ferris Wheel, The Scrambler, and The Zipper. There are also traditional carnival games like throwing darts to pop balloons, trying to toss a ping pong ball into a glass cup, or tossing rings around bottles. The winter carnival is a nice change from the same rides and games in the heat of the summer. One free ride and game is included with admission. Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $30.
Entertainment varies daily and includes acts such as The Magic of Jimmy of H, ice-carving shows by The Chainsaw Chicks, strolling carolers, stilt walkers and much more.
