For years an outfit called Carmel Productions, run by Roee and Yael Carmel, has been throwing The I Feel Experience around the New York City area–and for years I have tried going to them only to be thwarted time and again by various obstacles and supernatural phenomena. It seemed as though the party Gods were hell-bent on preventing me from attending.
Well, last month I had my first chance to attend I Feel. I definitely had been missing out all these years.
Their themed parties are thrown in venues ranging from warehouses in Brooklyn to nightclubs like Santos Party House in Manhattan. They are elaborately decorated with various art installations, sets, and lights, creating a kind of futuristic-psychedelic ambiance. Imagine partying on the control deck of a UFO and you get the idea.
Furthermore, I Feel seems to have a slightly more youthful crowd and energy than some of the other burner parties I have been to over the years. Their regular partygoers–which they term “Feelers”–are a vibrant and wild crowd, always decked out in amazing costumes that represent the theme of the night. Some Feelers can also get pretty dressed down, if you know what I mean.
The best part of I Feel was the music, and the main reason why I wanted to go in the first place. I DJ myself and always appreciate great DJs, great music selection, and great technical skills to bring the crowd on a musical odyssey for the entire evening–all of which I Feel provides.
For all these reasons, I am very excited for the next I Feel, which takes place this Friday, February 26th, at Santos Party House (96 Lafayette Street).
The theme for this party is The Frozen Forest (the last one was Angels of the Underworld). The organizers suggest the following costumes for their Feelers: “Arctic & tribal, faux fur, arctic kings & queens, frozen forest creatures, polar bears, white wolves, foxes, snow leopards, ice animals/creatures, crystals, snow fantasy, Whimsical, Magical. Sparkle, Glitter, Sequins!”
I still do not know what my costume will be yet. Maybe a combination of all of these ;)
The music will take place in two locations:
Main Floor Line-Up:
- Jon Charnis (Innervisions / Supernature / No.19 / All Day I Dream)
- Whitney Fierce (RIS Labs / Random Records – UK)
- Muffs + Mykola (vyvn)
- Pony (Resident, Carmel Productions / Treetops)
The Frozen Cave, a place “dedicated for chilling and connecting in a sensual environment,” will feature:
- Saqib (Intimate Project)
- Adam Jay – Vinyl Set Carmel Productions)
Other attractions of the evening:
- Large scale art installations
- Live UV art
- State of the art sound system
- I FEEL Serenity chill Area (Head’s up: their cuddle puddle areas are very cuddly)
- Various performances
- Bodypainting by Kirkworx & Friends
So in other words it will be a night of immense debauchery and fun–which any decent party should be.
Looking forward to The Frozen Forest and seeing everyone on the dance floor.
