The New Orleans Hotel Collection’s hotel Le Marais went through a multi- million dollar renovation in 2010. Since visiting after the original renovations this hotel has earned its ranks as one of the premier historical upscale boutiques in the French Quarter.
Le Marais is named after the historic district located in the 3rd and 4th arrondissements on the Right Bank of the Seine River in Paris. Le Marais translates to ‘the marsh’ as it was before becoming one of Paris’ most artistic and fashionable neighborhoods. The narrow streets are decorated with cafes, galleries and boutiques. Sound familiar? Paris’ Le Marais and our French Quarter are like siblings (from another father.) Le Marais bridges the gap between Paris’ artsy neighborhood and our very own French Quarter in a beautifully blended upscale boutique.
The hotel Le Marais is located half a block from Bourbon but remains surprisingly quiet and secluded once inside, like most of the New Orleans Hotel Collection boutiques.
The rooms are very tidy and clean. The staff in all of the New Orleans Hotel Collection properties are the absolute best. The staff at Le Marais was always willing to assist, hold bags, and ask questions about the stay. The breakfast staff is engaging, professional and as sweet as the fresh pastries offered daily.
The blue and purple lit Vive! bar caused flashbacks of a Los Angeles club but without the absurd drink prices, over-packed rooms, and aspiring actor bartenders. Vive! is quite the opposite with a great happy hour, ample seating, and quick service. On Wednesdays Vive! also has a promotion called Deals for Heels. Drinks are deeply discounted depending on the height of your heels. Very cute idea. Vive! has velvet oversized chairs placed around the bar so there is no need to get a foot cramp. A word of advice, go back up to your room and change your heels if you plan on walking around after your happy hour fun. The streets are not exactly smooth.
The hottest part of Le Marais is the outdoor salt water pool. While visiting in December, with an average temperature of 50 degrees swimming in an outdoor pool was out of the question, but this is not the average pool, this is the biggest hot tub in the Quarter! And it feels amazing.
Other room amenities include a 42-inch flat screen TV, an alarm clock with an iPod/iPhone docking station, complimentary high-speed wireless internet access, two complimentary bottles of artesian water, high-speed dataport connectivity, waffle cotton bathrobes, walk-in showers, deluxe bath toiletries, a make-up mirror & hair dryer, a work desk with ergonomic chair, a coffee maker, wake-up service and individual climate control.
If you are thinking about travelling to New Orleans either for business or pleasure (it’s always a pleasure in New Orleans) consider hotel Le Marais or one of the New Orleans Hotel Collection’s boutiques.
