La Cantera Hill Country Resort pays homage to San Antonio and Texas history throughout its grounds including the lobby, Henrietta’s Market, The Esparza Lawn and the Emily Rose Court. The lobby of La Cantera Resort was built to resemble the “Big House” at King Ranch, one of the most famous ranches located in South Texas. Henrietta’s Market, the resort store, was named after Henrietta King, the owner of King Ranch after her husband Richard King died. The Esparza Lawn is named after Gregorio Esparza, a Texas fighter who died at the Alamo. Emily Rose Court is named after Emily Morgan, the “Yellow Rose of Texas.”
