The 2016 NHL playoffs are set to begin tonight on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Here is a list of the current betting odds for each of the 16 NHL teams to go on and win the 2016 Stanley Cup.
In addition to the odds for each team, also listed are the number of wins and total points each team earned in 2016. Also listed are the number of times each team has already won the Stanley Cup and the last time each team won.
Good luck to all the NHL playoff teams and especially the NHL bettors as the quest for the 2016 Stanley Cup begins tonight!
1. Washington Capitals – 7/2 odds
The Washington Capitals easily recorded the most wins (56) and points (120) in the NHL in 2016 and the team is the favorite in the betting odds to win the Stanley Cup at 7/2. The one drawback here, though, is that the Washington Capitals have never won the Stanley Cup and have only appeared in the finals once in 1998 where they lost to Detroit.
2. Chicago Blackhawks – 13/2 odds
Even though the Chicago Blackhawks did not lead the Western Conference in wins or points the team is the second choice in the betting odds and the lowest odds of the Western teams at 13/2. The Blackhawks are the defending Stanley Cup champions and they are going for the franchise’s 7th Stanley Cup in 2016.
3. Pittsburgh Penguins – 15/2
The Pittsburgh Penguins were the second best team in the Eastern Conference in the NHL in 2016 and the team has the second lowest odds among Eastern teams to win the Stanley Cup at 15/2 odds. The Penguins are going for their fourth Stanley Cup. Their last win was in 2009.
T-4. Dallas Stars – 8 to 1
The Dallas Stars recorded the most wins (50) and points (109) in the West in 2016 but they are only 8 to 1 odds to win the Stanley Cup. The Stars are going for their second championship. Their first was in 1999.
T-4. Anaheim Ducks – 8 to 1
The Anaheim Ducks were tops in the Pacific Division in the West and they are also 8 to 1 odds to win the cup in 2016. The Ducks have won the Stanley Cup just once so far in their existence in 2007.
T-4. Los Angeles Kings – 8 to 1
The Los Angeles Kings are also 8 to 1 odds to win the cup in 2016. The Kings recorded 48 wins and 102 points this season. The Kings have won the Stanley Cup twice so far (2012, 2014) and both were in recent times.
7. St. Louis Blues – 9 to 1
The St. Louis Blues won 49 games and earned 107 points which were both second best in the West and they are 9 to 1 odds to win the 2016 cup. Like the Washington Capitals, the St. Louis Blues are battling history here as they have yet to win the Stanley Cup.
T-8. New York Rangers – 15 to 1
Expectations were high for the Rangers in 2016 and the team won 46 games and earned 101 points. The Rangers are 15 to 1 odds to win the 2016 Stanley Cup and the team is going for its 5th title with its last win being in 1994.
T-8. San Jose Sharks – 15 to 1
The San Jose Sharks had 46 wins and earned 98 points during the 2016 NHL season. Over their first 23 season in the NHL, the San Jose Sharks have yet to make a Stanley Cup finals let alone win the cup.
10. Tampa Bay Lightning – 18 to 1
Despite making the finals last year the Tampa Bay Lightning are pretty high odds this year at 18 to 1. The team won 46 games and earned 96 points this season as they go for their second title (2004).
T-11. Florida Panthers – 20 to 1
The Florida Panthers are 20 to 1 odds even though they won the Atlantic Division with 47 wins and 103 points. The team made the finals in 1997 but have yet to win the Stanley Cup.
T-11. New York Islanders – 20 to 1
The Islanders won 45 games and earned 100 points this season but are 20 to 1 odds to win the cup. The Islanders have won four Stanley Cups but their last win was way back in 1983.
13. Nashville Predators – 25 to 1
The Nashville Predators won only 41 games this season and earned 96 points. The team has been in the NHL for 16 seasons and has yet to even make the Stanley Cup finals let alone win the cup.
14. Minnesota Wild – 30 to 1
The Minnesota Wild only won 38 games and earned 87 points this season so they are 30 to 1 odds to win it all. The Wild have played 14 seasons in the NHL without making the finals or winning the cup.
15. Detroit Red Wings – 40 to 1
The Red Wings won 41 games and earned 93 points this season. Detroit is going for its 12th Stanley Cup and first since 2008.
16. Philadelphia Flyers – 50 to 1
The Philadelphia Flyers are the biggest long shots to win the Stanley Cup in 2016 at 50 to 1 odds. The Flyers won 41 games and earned 96 points this season. The team is going for its 3rd Stanley cup and first since 1975.
