Square Enix Montreal has caught onto a serious hot strike with the trio of mobile games that have released over the past few years. Those mobile titles are Hitman GO, Hitman: Sniper and Lara Croft GO and each has delivered an experience that gamers simply can’t walk away from.
byteclay.com recently had the chance to catch up with Square Enix Montreal’s Community Manager Nicolas Bertrand-Verge. During our chat, we learned a bunch of new details regarding Hitman GO for PS4 and PS Vita, Hitman Sniper and if GO games could eventually be expanded to other franchises.
First and foremost, Hitman GO is coming to the PS4 and PS Vita very soon, though an exact release date was not named. Folks who buy one version of the game will be able to gain access to both the PS4 and PS Vita versions, with cross-saves also being enabled via a simple upload and download on the platform of your choosing.
Hints that were part of the mobile game as a microtransaction are going to be in Hitman GO on PlayStation, however, Hints will be free for players. Additionally, gamers who end up acquiring Hitman GO will be pleased to know there are PlayStation Trophies that they can hunt down, including a Platinum Trophy. It’s important to know that if you use a Hint, then you will no longer be eligible for the Platinum Trophy, so use at your own peril.
When it was running on mobile, Hitman GO used the Unity 4 game engine, but in order for Square Enix Montreal to get the game on PlayStation platforms, they had to use Unity 5. Developers redid the lighting system in the game, which has resulted in hi-res visuals with greater fidelity.
Finally, players will be able to control Agent-47 by using their controller’s D-Pad, left analog stick or the DualShock 4’s Touchpad. There is more control over the camera and that will provide gamers additional insight and perspective on each level.
Switching mobile titles to Hitman: Sniper, Square Enix Montreal has been ecstatic with the reception the game has received since launch. Bertrand-Verge said working on the project has resembled a “live game” because of all of the content they’ve brought to players.
Fans of zombie modes should be excited because Hitman: Sniper will be receiving its very own zombie survival mode where players will have to fight off wave after wave of zombies. Enemies will differ as you progress through each wave, and most exciting of all, the mode will bring forth a new map to enjoy.
Gamers have been asking for more GO games from other Square Enix franchises and it was mentioned as an exciting possibility for the future. There have been ideas thrown around about other brands being used for the GO series, though none have been confirmed at this time.
There are plenty of other brands that could be immortalized by the GO brand, so it seems to be a matter of demand and bandwidth that will determine what ultimately happens. In the meantime, gamers can look forward to Hitman GO landing on the PS4 and PS Vita very soon.
