Saturday’s Heat vs. Hornets live stream online and televised Game 3 of the 2016 NBA Playoffs will come with Charlotte in an 0-2 hole and looking to get a home court win. As it stands, the franchise has lost 12-straight postseason games, including playoffs when they were the Bobcats, and will try to avoid tying the all-time mark of 13 today. A win may also give the team momentum following a tough injury for the squad to key player Nic Batum in their Game 2 loss in Miami. The biggest question will be which player fills in for the injured star of the Hornets rotation? Saturday’s Miami vs Charlotte live streaming online and televised matchup arrives through the TNT networks for basketball fans to enjoy.
According to Charlotte Observer in their April 22 report, Hornets head coach Steve Clifford had yet to officially decide upon a replacement for the injured Nic Batum in Game 3. Speculation ran that he could use either big man Frank Kaminsky, or put guard Jeremy Lin into the starting lineup. Batum was a key piece of this year’s success for the team, as he was averaging 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists. Unfortunately, he went down with a left foot strain in the Hornets’ Game 2 loss at Miami this past week, and will be sidelined for the rest of the postseason with the issue. If Kaminsky is in the lineup, look for Marvin Williams to be put at the small forward spot. If Jeremy Lin starts, look for shooting guard Courtney Lee to move to small forward.
The first two games of this series certainly did not go in favor of Charlotte, although Game 2, a 115-103 loss, was slightly more encouraging in terms of defense. The team still allowed nearly 58 percent shooting from the floor in both Game 1 and Game 2, showing a need for even more defensive intensity. Charlotte ranked ninth in the NBA this past season in points allowed by opponents. Unfortunately, their current opponent, the Heat, ranked at No. 5, allowing just 98.4 per game. It will mean a need for someone to step up and take on the scoring in the absence of Nic Batum, and the team will certainly need to reduce Miami’s ability to hit shots at such a stellar rate.
The winner of this series will take on the winner of the Indiana Pacers vs. Toronto Raptors series, which Toronto currently leads 2-1, with Game 4 in Indiana Saturday. Game 1 saw the Raptors lose in a shocker at home 100-90. They were able to win the next two games, with Game 2 a 98-87 home win and Game 3 a 101-85 defeat of their opponents. In other scores from the Eastern Conference, Cleveland took a 3-0 lead against the Detroit Pistons with a 101-91 Game 3 win, while the Boston Celtics bounced back against Atlanta with a 111-103 home win. That Eastern series is currently at 2-1 in favor of the Hawks.
The odds for this crucial third game in the series have the home team listed as three-point favorites to win. The Hornets are 21-17-1 as favorites, while Miami is 18-22-1 as the away team, or 14-16 ATS as the underdog. On the moneyline it’s close, as Charlotte is listed at -145 and the underdog Heat are +125. Today’s points total is at 199 for the complete game. The Miami Heat currently have future odds of 40 to 1 to win the NBA Finals, ranking them sixth overall. The Charlotte Hornets are much more of a longshot as of right now, with odds of 1000 to 1 to win it all this postseason.
