When Bixby arrived at the Carson Animal Care Center as a stray on January 25, the five-year-old Basset Hound’s posture broke everyone’s heart. No doubt the dog was truly devastated, and he just didn’t know where to look for help, and so he withdrew.
Click here for Bixby’s Pet Harbor listing. This DOG – ID#A4914098. “I am described as a male, black and brown Basset Hound. The shelter thinks I am about 5 years old. I have been at the shelter since Jan 25, 2016.” For more information about this animal, call Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566. Bixby is expected to be available for adoption on Sunday, January 31. A Facebook page with additional information about him is available here.
In Bixby’s first video, he trembles, doesn’t want to make eye contact with the volunteer and just seems to be inconsolable. The second video, he’s less withdrawn and seems more alert. According to Saving Carson Shelter Dogs: “… He is still on hold until 1/31 and then he has a person with a CTA (Commitment to Adopt) and five IP (Interested Parties) after that, so hopefully he will be out soon. The vet has tried to examine him, but he is upset and scared and tries to bite. He is going to be given a temperament test and based on the results, they will decide if he is adoptable to a private person or if he is required to have a rescue organization to take him out. We will update once he’s tested.” Please continue to share his plight with friends, family, social media and approved rescue organizations. No dog is considered rescued until they are safely out of the building. Sharing saves lives.
