Guy Fieri will be opening his newest eatery, Pig n’ Anchor, a smokehouse BBQ concept, on Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Magic is the first ship to receive the newest restaurant concept by Fieri for Carnival Cruise Line. Pig n’ Anchor is making it possible for vacationers to get the BBQ at sea. This open-air barbecue eatery will be offering cruise-goers some of their traditional smokehouse favorites. If you will be sailing aboard the Carnival Magic, you will want to make sure that you experience the smoked-on-board pork butt, beef, chicken and sausage, as well as the delicious sides and Fieri’s very own specialty sauces.
Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse will be located on the Carnival Magic’s Lanai on the Promenade Deck. The restaurant will feature everyone’s BBQ favorites smoked over hickory and cherry wood using Guy’s signature recipes, rubs and spices. The following is from a press release issued by Carnival in early March 2016:
“A member of the American Royal National Barbecue Hall of Fame, Fieri is cooking up real-deal smokehouse favorites like bone-in, dry-rubbed, slow-smoked and pulled Championship Pork Butt, dry-rubbed Blue Ribbon Chicken, smoked Andouille sausage and Sliced Smoked Round of Beef cook ‘low and slow’ and thinly sliced. A rarity on cruise ships, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse features a traditional wood smoker which was installed on board as part of a recent dry dock.”
In addition to the amazing main dishes, guests can also expect traditional side dishes. Some of these side dishes include Mac Daddy Mac n Cheese, Scratch-Made Slaw, Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey and Molasses Baked Beans with Bacon and Burnt Ends. Cruisers wanting to spice things up can add some of Fieri’s signature BBQ sauces, including his Award-Winning Brown Sugar, Kansas City, Sriracha BQ and Carolina #6. All items at Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse will be included with the cost of the cruise.
“Everyone knows that it takes the finest meats cooked ‘low and slow’ to create truly righteous mouth-watering barbecue,” Fieri commented. “My new ‘Pig & Anchor’ eatery on Carnival Magic is gonna be off the hook! Be sure to grab lots of napkins – it’s gonna get messy!”
So will the new restaurant addition be a hit among cruisers? The president of Carnival Cruise Line, Christine Duffy, believes it will be. “Guy has been a wonderful partner and we can’t wait for our guests to enjoy all the incredible offerings at his Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse which we’re sure will be huge hit with Carnival Magic guests,” she stated.
Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que will be open on sea days from noon until 2:30 p.m. This ship will continue its seven-day schedule from Galveston through April 10, 2016. At this time it will be repositioned to Port Canaveral to launch year-round seven-day Caribbean cruises starting April 23, 2016. But before all of that begins, a special three-day cruise will be available to Nassau April 20-23, 2016.
