Boston-based rock band Guster will bring their winter tour to Des Moines on Wednesday, February 3 for a show at Wooly’s. Doors for the event will open at 7 p.m., and the music will kick off at 8 p.m. The San Francisco group Vetiver will open the show. Tickets for the concert are $26 in advance and $29 on the day of the concert. This will be an all ages event.
Guster got its start in 1991 while its members were attending Tufts University. Through the years, the foursome has worked its way from being a local favorite (2006 Boston Music Award winners for “Album of the Year”) to being an international touring band. They have played with acts like Barenaked Ladies, the John Butler Trio, John Mayer, Ben Folds, and Pete Yorn. Guster’s last three albums have reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Rock chart, and their last two have landed in the Top 10 of the Alternative chart as well. The band has accumulated six Top 40 singles. Guster’s latest album, Evermotion, came out last year. You can check out the band’s latest video, “Doin’ It by Myself,” embedded above.
Guster is known for their sense of humor live, so don’t be surprised if the band pulls a few shenanigans at Wooly’s. In the past, band members have dressed as hillbillies and opened for themselves, danced around onstage with KFC buckets on their heads while other bands performed, performed humorous covers of popular songs, and even came to the stage from the crowd one member at a time while being announced as The Price Is Right contestants.
