The GOP Republican Debate 2016 live stream online and TV coverage tonight will feature the return of Donald Trump to face his biggest adversary when it comes to the debate stage. It will also feature the billionaire business mogul having plenty to brag about following Super Tuesday where he dominated the majority of the primary elections. He’ll have just three opponents now as Dr. Ben Carson has dropped his campaign efforts after Tuesday’s poor showing. Can Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz or John Kasich find a way to gain some momentum against Trump, or will he continue to steal the show? How will he respond to recent comments made by Mitt Romney, amongst others? The 2016 Detroit GOP Debate live streaming and televised coverage comes via Fox News on Thursday night.
As reported by CNN.com on March 1, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and the frontrunner for the Republicans, Donald Trump, were the big winners on Super Tuesday. Only about a dozen states were involved in each of the primaries, with Trump winning across the conservative South. That included Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia and Virginia. Trump also managed to capture Massachusetts and Vermont, both of which are considered a bit more moderate. While those were key victories for the outspoken businessman, Ted Cruz was able to win his home state of Texas and also took Oklahoma and Alaska. Marco Rubio also managed to grab his first victory, winning Minnesota. As of right now, it appears the two main opponents for Trump are splitting the field and making it easier for his wins.
The other big story heading into tonight’s event will be that Dr. Ben Carson stated he can’t “see a political path forward” and won’t attend the debate being held in his hometown of Detroit. As a followup to his statement, Carson said he planned to give more details on his plans when he attends the Conservative Political Action Committee Conference near Washington, D.C. tomorrow. Carson dropping out of the race for the Republican candidacy leaves John Kasich, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz to battle Trump, although some may wonder if Kasich will be the next to throw in the towel due to poor performance in the polls.
Of course the biggest headline that many will push ahead of tonight’s debate will be the “Trump vs. Kelly” battle. Tonight’s debate has three moderators from Fox News including anchor Megyn Kelly, who became part of Trump’s controversial tweets made after their first debate encounter. Kelly will be joined on the moderator panel by Bret Baier and Chris Wallace, but those who saw Trump’s first debate appearance on Fox News remember how things escalated between him and Kelly. That resulted in Trump skipping the next debate hosted by Fox News. He’ll now appear once again with many viewers wondering what will go down as he is center stage.
