Friday’s Gonzaga vs. Syracuse live stream online and televised 2016 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 game arrives with the biggest Cinderella stories of the Big Dance battling for an Elite Eight spot. The Bulldogs are currently a No. 11 seed, while the Orange are a No. 10 seed, but both have managed to win their first two rounds of games, showing they are better than those numbers first indicated. Tonight, the dance ends for one of the two squads, with the winner moving closer to a potential NCAA Championship appearance. The 2016 NCAA live streaming and TV coverage comes via CBS and March Madness Live.
On March 24, the CBS Sports site reported that Gonzaga is attempting to get to the Elite Eight round for its second-straight postseason. They’ll try to do so against Jim Boeheim’s Syracuse squad which relies upon the trademark zone defense. Currently, the Bulldogs are playing well behind Kyle Wiltjer, and have defeated opponents in their last seven matchups by an average 14.7 points. Head coach Mark Few noted of this latest matchup, “It’s going to be interesting just because you just – we don’t, and there really aren’t many teams in college basketball that play 40 minutes of zone, and I think that’s kind of the simple brilliance of the whole Syracuse plan.”
To get to this game, Syracuse was able to defeat Dayton 70-51 in a first-round upset and then took down a Middle Tennessee team seeded at No. 15 that upset Michigan State. They’ve won their two tournament contests by an average of 17 points, making tonight’s game an intriguing clash between the Atlantic Coastal and West Coast conferences. Right now, the ACC has shown its strength this past season based on the number of teams that it had in the Sweet 16, while Gonzaga continues to be the sole representative from its conference after upsetting Saint Mary’s in the WCC championship finals. A matchup to keep an eye on tonight may include Orange leading scorer, senior forward Michael Gbinije, and Bulldogs leading scorer, sophomore forward Domantas Sabonis.
Vegas odds makers have the Gonzaga Bulldogs as four-point favorites to win tonight’s matchup in the Sweet Sixteen round. However, the Orange have gone 2-0 overall against the spread in the tournament, while Gonzaga is 1-0 as favorite and 1-1 overall. On the moneyline, Syracuse will be a +170 underdog as the 10 seed, with Gonzaga priced at -190 as the favorites. The over/under points total is currently set at 135 points for the complete game.
