Thursday night’s Gonzaga vs. Seton Hall live stream online and televised 2016 NCAA Tournament game will wrap up the day’s action as the final game on the day’s first round schedule. In this matchup will be a Bulldogs team that was once known as a Cinderella story but now has come to more national attention. As a No. 11 seed they’ll be the underdog again, and will be taking on a No. 6-seeded Pirates team which upset Villanova recently to win the Big East Championship. The 2016 NCAA Tournament live streaming and televised game action will be presented through March Madness Live and truTV on Thursday evening.
A report on March 16 via Asbury Park Press indicates that this will be Gonzaga’s 18th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, while it’s Seton Hall’s first time in the Big Dance since 2006. The last time the Pirates won a tournament game was back in 2004, and the team nearly went all the way back in 1989, but fell to Michigan in the National Title game. This year’s Seton Hall team is led by sophomore guard Isaiah Whitehead who averages 18.4 points per game and five assists a contest. The Bulldogs are led by their experienced senior forward Kyle Wiltjer. He’s averaged 20.7 points per and over six rebounds per game, while center Damontas Sabonis has averaged a double-double of 17.4 points and 11.6 rebounds a game, making for a big frontline.
Both teams got automatic bids to the dance by winning their conference tournaments with Seton Hall upsetting then-No. 3 Villanova and Gonzaga upsetting conference leader St. Mary’s in the title game. The Zags seemed to have their streak of consecutive tournament appearances in jeopardy after a so-so regular season campaign, but a 10-point win over the Gaels to capture the WCC title eliminated any bubble worries. In that game, they were red hot with 61 percent field goal shooting. As for the Pirates, defeating a team once projected as a No. 1 seed for the tournament certainly makes them look like a threat as well. In their Big East Tournament finals win, Whitehead led the way with 26 points including a huge three-point play with 18 seconds remaining. All of that set up these two teams for what could be a marquee matchup to end a day of exciting March Madness action.
The odds for tonight’s game favor Gonzaga by two points on the point spread after Vegas odds makers first listed Seton Hall as a one-point favorite. When it comes to beating the spread, the Pirates have been a good bet, going 23-10 overall and 12-2 as an underdog. The Zags are just 16-17 overall and 13-15 when they’re the favorite. The over/under total is as high as 146-1/2 at some sports books ahead of the game. In terms of these two teams’ potential to win the entire tournament, the future odds list at Vegas Insider has Seton Hall at 60 to 1 odds and Gonzaga at 90 to 1 odds to win it all.
