The 2016 Tshwane Open golf tournament on the European Tour is taking place this week from February 11-14, 2016, at the Pretoria Country Club located in Pretoria, South Africa. Here is a list of the prize money up fro grabs for the European Tour golfers to win this week at the 2016 Tshwane Open.
The Tshwane Open was first played in 2013. Dawie van der Walt was the inaugural winner, followed by Ross Fisher in 2014 and George Coetzee last year in 2015. The Tshwane Open is not one of the bigger events of the year on the European Tour. The biggest player playing in the 2016 Tshawne Open is native son Charl Schwartzel who won The Masters in 2011.
There are four Americans playing in the 2016 Tshwane Open. Bobby Wyatt from Alabama, Daniel Im who was born in Wayne, New Jersey and played golf in college for UCLA, 40-year old Jason Knutzon originally from Texas, and John Hahn from Ohio. Two of the Americans have displayed great talent as Bobby Wyatt shot a 57 at age 17 in a 2010 Alabama State Junior Championship and John Hahn shot a 58 in a 2014 European Tour qualifying school tournament.
Total prize money up for grabs at the 2016 Tshwane Open is $1.15 million (18.5 million South African Rands). On the European Tour website the individual prize money is shown in Euros so the money below has been converted from Euros to dollars at the current rate of 1.13.

The winner of the 2016 Tshwane Open on the European Tour will earn $184,881. The winner of a European Tour event typically gets 16.67% of the total prize money. Here the total prize fund is $1.15 million and 16.67% of that is $191,705.
- Second place – $134,174
Second place is worth $134,174 at the 2016 Tshwane Open. Last year Jacques Blaauw from South Africa finished in second place here. Blaauw played golf in college for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
- Third place – $80,737
Third place at the 2016 Tshwane Open is worth $80,737. Last year, Dean Burmester, Craig Lee and Tjaart Van der Walt all tied for third place in this tournament. Bumester and Tjaart Van der Walt are from South Africa and Craig Lee is from Scotland.
- Fourth place – $57,286
Fourth place is worth $57,268 at the 2016 Tshwane Open. Carlos Del Moral from Spain finished alone in fourth place here in 2014. In 2013, American Peter Uihlein finished alone here in fourth place. Peter’s father is Wally Uihlein the CEO of Acushnet which makes golf equipment including the Titleist brand golf balls
