“John Lennon and Me” comes to Spotlight Youth Theatre, 10620 N. 43rd Ave. in Glendale, Arizona, March 4–13. Directed by Kenny Grossman, the play was adapted by Cherie Bennett from her popular book, “Good-bye, Best Friend,” and is suitable for ages 12–19.
Life is short and often hands us circumstances we would never choose. No one knows this better than Stella, who has renamed herself Star. A Hollywood wannabe and the ultimate Beatles fan, she also happens to have been born with cystic fibrosis, a fatal disease. Star has never hung out at the mall, never gone to school and never even had a friend. With her illness at its worst, she goes to Hope House. There she makes meets Courtney Cambridge, a pretty cheerleader with a boyfriend. They know little about each other’s world, but eventually, Courtney becomes the first real friend Star has ever had. But how long can it last?
