With awards season heating up the town, LA is definitely one of the hottest places to be right now. Last week the Microsoft Theater was home to the 2016 People’s Choice Awards and this past weekend on Jan. 10, our favorite celebrities regrouped once again at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in honor of the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards.
We saw some familiar trends on the scene, like the return of controversial funnyman, host Ricky Gervais, as well as some notable wins of the evening such as Sylvester Stallone, whose last Golden Globe nomination was in 1977. He won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie “Creed”. Another big winner of the night was Christian Slater whom we all know and love for his iconic roles in movies like “Heathers” and “Pump Up the Volume”. He took home his very first Golden Globe for his portrayal of the title character in the USA Network drama, “Mr. Robot”.
The night was full of surprises; the world went wild for Leo’s big win in “The Revenant” while the internet went gaga over his reaction to the Lady who took home the award for her role in “American Horror Story: Hotel”. In true Golden Globe fashion, the bleeps, mishaps and off-the-cuff remarks, left a lot of viewers at home with their mouths open, thinking, “Did that really just happen?”
One of the greatest joys of the Golden Globes, aside from the fact that it’s usually a good indicator of wins for the awards shows to follow, is the fun that everyone seems to have. And the fashion is no exception.
From best dressed to worst dressed, from the red carpet to the after-parties, it was a fashion extravaganza where we saw trends like plunging necklines, long trains, oblique cutouts and symmetrical styling. Bold colors like the gorgeous red Christian Dior gown that Jennifer Lawrence rocked to the sophisticated cape-wielding, elegant vision in yellow that was Jennifer Lopez, our favorite celebs wore their favorite designers and were turning heads all night long.
Some of the more extraordinary post-party style that definitely did not go unnoticed was worn by Emily Bett Rickards from the CW hit show “Arrow”. She looked stunning in a black feathered gown by Australian designer OGLIA-LORO and sported a fabulous AEVHA London Dromeda Clutch.
The always beautiful and charming Alyssa Milano wore a gorgeous burgundy floor-length gown from designer Zac Posen. Her dazzling American Diamond and Platinum Chandelier Earrings from James Robinson INC. were the perfect accent to complement her brand new short hairdo.
The ever-so-stunning Jadyn Douglas who co-stars alongside Eva Longoria in the NBC comedy “Telenovela” looked absolutely radiant wearing Cary Santiago. The splendid detail in this haute couture dress paired with a gorgeous Samantha Wills Clutch was a winning combination for the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and actress. Jadyn says that to her, fashion is an expression of who you are. Her bubbly personality mixed with a Puerto Rican attitude and some serious goals lead to a style that’s fun and edgy while keeping it classy and chic.
One thing is for sure, the Golden Globe Awards Show is one event that never disappoints. Every year it’s the affair of the season that seems to get everyone talking about who wore what, who said what, and always keeps them wondering what will happen next.
