A stone sphere unearthed in a Bosnia forest may be the remnants of an ancient civilization that no one was aware of. This spear is only half uncovered so far, but according to Sam Osmanagich, who has been researching the phenomenon of stone spears for the past 15 years, this is a significant find.
PHYS.org on April 17 reports that Osmanagich said if this sphere is manmade, which he suspects, then it would indicate the people who made it came from an advanced civilization that we know nothing about. The archeologist blogged:
“I’ve been researching prehistoric stone ball phenomenon for 15 years. By the mid of March 2016, it became obvious that the most massive stone ball in Europe has been discovered. Name of the location is village Podubravlje.”
The mass of this sphere is expected to be over 30 tons and the red coloring running through the stone would indicate it has a high content of iron. The archeologist calls this find “significant” because if this is manmade the discovery of this sphere indicates there was an advanced civilization living in the area where Bosnia is today. This civilization would be from a distant past and “we have no written records about them.”
He also said that they had “high technology, different than ours.” Osmanagich also states that this civilization “knew about the power of geometrical shapes, because the sphere is one of the most powerful shapes along with pyramidal and conical shapes.”
AOL News reports the sphere is about 10-feet in diameter and weighs approximately 35 tons. It dates back about 1,500 years and believed that it may hold proof of an ancient civilization in Europe.
Stone spheres have been found in Costa Rica, which are some of the spheres that Osmanagich has researched in the past. But if this latest discovery of the sphere in Bosnia turns out to be manmade then it would be the biggest manmade stone sphere unearthed on the planet to date. It would be twice as heavy as the Costa Rica stone spheres.
Not everyone agrees with Osmanagich’s theory on this stone sphere. Some scientists believe it is a natural formation caused by the process called concretion, which is discussed in the video above. Concretion is “when a compact mass of rock is formed by the precipitation of natural mineral cement within the spaces between sediment grains. The result is often spherical in shape, with the process forming the famed Koutu boulders in New Zealand,” explains PHYS.org.
