So with the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo going on right now, downtown Calgary is flooded with geeks, nerds, and fans dressed in their favorite character costumes and lining up to see their favorite heroes and villains. The show goes for days, but you never really hear much about the food. And you can believe there is plenty of food.
Whether you’re headed to the iconic Char|Cut Roast House for urban-rustic cuisine, or you’re looking forward to the Alberta beef experience at The Keg Steakhouse and Bar, you’re in the right place. Both are casual dining, near your hotel, and should be called for a reservation ahead of time.
Anytime throughout the four day event you can step outside to find countless food trucks with a wide variety of foods and drinks, potions and eats, for almost any palette.
On Sunday, Stan lee will be holding his last ever Canada appearance at the Corral so you might want to make sure you don’t miss that. In the Corral there are also several food and drink kiosks if you feel the need to grab a quick snack while you wait to meet the creator of so many of your favorite super heroes and villains.
If you’re headed to the Official After Party with nerd rock band Rock Sugar and opening act Kirby Krackle, you’ll be at the Cowboys Dance Hall. While the bar itself doesn’t serve any food, if you find yourself needing to wolf down a few bites between shows you can head into the attached casino where you have 3 choices. The Center and Melrose both serve typical pub food, while the Zen8 grill specializes in sushi and other Japanese specialties. Of course you can always sample a local drink invention that has gone national; the Caesar which is usually made with Vodka and Clamato along with various other savory ingredients and served with a celery stalk stirrer.
