Who knows how to rock the red carpet best? Well that has to be Jennifer Lopez! And for the Golden Globes she shocked the world wearing a demure yet super sexy (but not in a sheer see through way) mustard yellow thigh high slit wrap gown by Giambattista Valli that featured a cape (!) with strong structured sleeves paired up with Henry Winston jewelry that included a stunning braided necklace. Who could compete with that look?! Luckily, Jennifer knew to complete her stunning combo to entrust her hair, makeup and nails to the celebrity stylists of L’Oreal Paris namely Lorenzo Martin for her hair, Tom Bachik for her nails and Mary Phillips for her hair. Want to learn how to get her look? Here goes!
For Jennifer’s makeup Mary Phillips wanted to create an old world Hollywood glamour look that reflected the classic yet modern cut of her gown.
Step 1: Mary started out by first applied Armani Prima Eye and Lip Contour Perfector onto Jennifer’s upper eye lids. She also applied it all around her mouth and lips since the lips should always be as hydrated as the rest of the skin.
Step 2: Mary wanted to create a natural 3D effect on Jennifer’s skin. To do this she layered three of L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation ($16.99) sheerer colors in C5.5 NATURAL TAN, 5.5 Perfect Beige, and W3 Nude Beige.
Step 3: Mary then used the darker shades found in the Infallible Pro Contour Palette ($12.99) in 814 Medium along the jawline, underneath her cheek bones, on her temple, the hairline of the forehead and along her nose. She then applied the highlighter hue the center of Jennifer’s forehead, nose, directly above the jawline, and underneath her browbone.
Step 4: Using her self-proclaimed “holy grail” blush the L’Oreal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Blush in Spiced Plum C7-8 ($10.99), Mary applied the blush to the apples of Jennifer’s cheeks for a fresh pop of color and an extra added dimension.
Step 5: To give special attention to the browbones, Mary applied onto Jennifer’s eyelids L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Eyeshadow Mono in 306 ($5.99). She then applied Shade 201 as the backdrop color applied for the crease of her eyelids and then applied 205 to the center the upper eyelid and along the lower lashline.
Step 6: Using L’Oréal Paris Infallible Black Velvet Liner ($9.99), Mary drew a very thin line on the top lashes only while making the line a little fuller at the ends without giving a cat eye look to avoid a costume-y look. To complete the liner look, Mary finished it off by applying L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte-Matic Liner ($8.99) to the upper and lower lashlines, making sure to get it in between the lashes to add drama in an understated way.
Step 7: Long lush eyelashes were a definite must have and Mary achieved the perfect lashes with just the right amount of depth that wouldn’t compete with Jennifer’s lips by priming and coating her eyelashes with L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Superstar Mascara ($10.99).
Step 8: To achieve Jennifer’s very full lip effect, Mary mixed three lip color shades (L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss in Rouge Envy, Nude Allude and Forbidden Kiss ($9.99) and building up the colors in different areas. Mary applied the darker colors to the outside of Jennifer’s mouth, and then worked her way inward. This way Mary created a lip that was dark but not vampire-ish, had dimension but wasn’t too wet or too matte.
Next up, Jennifer’s hair!
To create Jennifer’s hair, celebrity stylist Lorenzo Martin wanted to create a classic Hollywood look that complemented not only her dress but her makeup as well.
Step 1: Using L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner ($4.99 each), Lorenzo, washed Jennifer’s hair. Then to add texture, volume and body to her blow out, Lorenzo sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Air-Blown Texture Mist ($4.99) all over her hair.
Step 2: Using a small round brush, he then blow dried her hair out in small sections. When he was done he then sprayed her hair with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Blow Out Heat Spray ($4.99).
Step 3: Next, Lorenzo used a 1” barrel curling iron, to curl her hair in one direction, which he then pinned to let it set and cool down. To add a bit of shine, Lorenzo used L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Lustrous Oil Serum ($6.99) on the front of Jennifer’s hair and to the ends.
Step 4: To complete the look, Lorenzo then brushed out her hair. To set it and ensure that it would last all night he sprayed it with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray ($14.99).
Lastly, Jennifer’s nails!
To keep with the look of the evening, L’Oreal Paris Global Manicurist Tom Bachik elected to to keep her nails look clean and chic in a complementing color to her dress. First Tom filed Jennifer’s nails into a classic round shape. He then applied L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Nailcolor in Always a Lady ($9.99). Once the nails were dry he then L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Nailcolor top coat. To ensure that her manicure lasted not only during the Golden Globes but for a little while longer, Tom applied L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Facial Oil ($24.99) on each nail to keep them looking fresh and keep the cuticles hydrated.
