Happy new years 2016! Whew, hopefully everyone had a super great evening and made it home safely! Life moves forward and some of us did not make it into 2016. For the rest of us who were granted the “gift” of life again, get ready, because 2016 is going to be a great year! You know why… just because! Plus, that is how you should feel, too!
O.K. some of you are going, what happened last night? My head is fuzzy, can’t think and my stomach does not feel good! Oh well, it is too late to worry about that so you better do a couple of things to cure that “hangover”!
Since our bodies are made up of mostly water, it is good to re-hydrate yourself. The reason is alcohol is a natural diuretic. If you didn’t notice, you do go to the bathroom much more often when consuming alcohol than water. Go and drink “room temperature” water. Room temperature absorbs into your body quicker and you need to replace that loss water. Coconut water is even better because it not only hydrates you it packs more potassium than a banana! Hey mon, put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up!
Sports drinks tend to work too, because they replace the electrolytes. A new discovery these days is pickle juice. It does everything sports drinks do without all of the sugars. Drink a shot of pickle juice and you will discover a new you.
Now if you just are not feeling great in the tummy, you won’t believe it but it really works in many ways… a vanilla milkshake! Yes! A vanilla milkshake will honestly make you feel much better within a short period time for several reasons! Besides packing a punch of vitamin D, it coats and soothes your stomach, it hydrates you and it taste pretty darn good, too!
Another edible thing to do is to eat some carbs, anything from dry toast, crackers, a bagel to a treat like brioche or a croissant. Carbs help to stabilize your sugars because your liver is working so hard to metabolize the alcohol it doesn’t have time to stabilize your sugars. With your sugars low you tend to get tired, headaches and get more irritable!
You still are not feeling “eggxactly” right, so eat a few eggs! Eggs are great because they contain a large amount of L-cysteine. L-cysteine is a non essential, amino acid which helps to counter-act the alcohol in your liver. In turn, it acts like a wet/dry-vac in your system helping to absorb the alcohol, so your liver won’t go into overload. Hey, head on over to the kitchen and scramble up some eggs and start your way to a better day!
Of course the best cure is not to drink to much or at all. Hey, that is no fun, so then another way is to take vitamins and an ibuprofen before you go out. Also, to eat a good meal consisting of vegetables, salads, proteins before you go out, to help absorb and slow down the process of absorption of the alcohol.
2016, this year we all need to make a concentrated effort to become more peaceful. Love should be the first thought in our minds and words of kindness and encouragement should be the words that come from our mouths.
We need to be blind to prejudice, to racial or religious differences and learn more about one another, since we are growing closer to one another. If you realize it or not, the World is becoming one. One world, one mankind is what is happening as we speak.
As you enter into the new year, be kind to yourself and all those you pass along your journey called life! God bless and get ready for a multitude of “Mouthgasms” in the coming year, peace!
Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony!
