Update 3/1/16: Perla has been adopted!
A stunning, five-year-old German shepherd named “Perla,” is devastated after her owner walked her into the Riverside County Animal Control in Thousand Palms, California, on February 24, and handed over her leash to a stranger. In the days that followed, it became apparent that the devoted dog is suffering from the loss of all that she once knew and loved.
There is no way for Perla to understand why her life has suddenly been turned upside down – there is no way for her to understand why her person is not walking back into the facility to save her. Judging by a video which was taken of Perla inside of her kennel run, she has already lost hope and given in to her despair.
Please take a moment to help Perla find a new, loving owner – one who would never consider handing her over to strangers and walking away.
