A Geneva, Alabama man pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor bestiality charge with his wife’s dog and has been sentenced to jail, reports the DothamEagle.com.
Jonathan Edward Medley, 40, appeared in front of Circuit Court Judge William Filmore on Monday and received a 12-month sentence to be served for 15 consecutive weekends at the Geneva County Jail beginning in January. He will then be placed on probation for the next two years and is barred from owning any pets. Medley was also ordered to pay a $250 fine, $50 for a victim’s compensation fee, and a bail bond of $250. According to Geneva County District Attorney Kirke Adams, Medley “had sexual contact with the dog, but no actual intercourse. There was no evidence he ever had sex with the dog.”
According to Police Captain Ricky Morgan, the victim was a two-year-old male Shih Tzu, named Buster, who belonged to Morgan’s wife. He was mad at his wife because she paid more attention to the dog than him, so he had sex with the dog. His wife actually thought he was having an affair with another woman and hid a recording device. She learned he was in fact molesting the dog, Buster was like his wife’s baby and weighed between 10 to 18 pounds. Initially Medley’s wife thought Buster was hurt as the result of her husband’s actions. The dog was not injured and the perverted act involved sexual contact with the dog, however the crime still fit within the state’s bestiality laws. Buster now lives with relatives.
