“Fuller House” is coming to Netflix on Feb. 26, 2016. The series is the next installment of the “Full House” sitcom that aired from Sept. 22, 1987 until May 23, 1995. “Full House” lasted eight seasons, spanned 192 episodes and won 16 television awards.
The main cast includes familiar and new faces. The main character is D.J. Tanner-Fuller, played by Candace Cameron- Bure. D.J. Tanner-Fuller has recently become widowed. She is pregnant and raising two boys. Michael Campion plays D.J.’s 13-year-old son Jackson and Elias Harger plays D.J.’s 7 –year-old son Max. Twins Dashiell and Fox Messit will play D.J.’s newborn son Tommy Fuller, Jr. As D.J. is grieving the loss of her husband and in need, she returns home and will roommate with her sister Stephanie Tanner played by Jodie Sweetin. Best friend Kimmy Gibbler will live with the pair. Andrea Barber returns to the role. Another new character featured in the main cast is Ramona Gibbler, Kimmy Gibbler’s 13-year-old daughter played by Soni Nicole Bringas.
Recurring cast members also include familiar faces. John Stamos plays Jesse Katsopolis and Lori Loughlin returns as Rebecca Donaldson-Katsopolis. Bob Saget revives his role as Danny Tanner, Jesse Katsopolis’ brother-in-law and uncle to D.J. and Stephanie. Dave Coulier plays Joey Gladstone.
While much of the main cast has returned for “Fuller House,” noticeably absent are the Olsen twins: Mary Kate and Ashley. Both were invited to participate and after it was learned that Ashley Olsen wouldn’t play an adult character, the invitation for Andrea Barber to reprise the role of Kimmy Gibler was extended, according to IMDB.
The Hollywood Reporter discussed Mary-Kate’s and Ashley Olsen’s decision not to appear in “Fuller House,” and shared a statement from the show’s executive producer Robert L. Boyett.
“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family. It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House.”
There will be 13 episodes of “Fuller House.” The first episode will be a one hour episode, titled “Our Very First How, Again.” Interestingly, the very first episode of “Full House” was titled “Our Very First Show.”
