The Ex-Wives are back! On Wednesday, February 17, AXS-TV will begin airing season three of the popular reality series, “Ex-Wives of Rock”. The 13-episode season narrated by actress Shannon Tweed follows the exploits of four beautiful 80’s icons who were former love interests of some of hard rock’s most notorious musicians.
Led by Bobbie Brown (ex-wife of late Warrant frontman, Jani Lane), the series also stars Athena Bass (sister of Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and ex-wife of Scorpions drummer, James Kottak); Sharise Neil (ex-wife of Motley Crue singer, Vince Neil) and Susan ‘Blue’ Ashley (ex-wife of Warrant bassist, Jerry Dixon). “Ex-Wives of Rock” follows the ladies as they look for new romance and deal with real-life circumstances in 21st century Los Angeles.
AXS recently spoke with model and best-selling author Bobbi Brown about the upcoming season of “Ex-Wives of Rock” and more in this exclusive interview.
James Wood: How did the relationship between “Ex-Wives of Rock” and AXS-TV begin?
Bobbie Brown: It came as a complete surprise and we’re all super stoked about it. Our production company, Tricon had been busy pitching the show to other countries and networks. We had thought it may have run its course, but then out of the blue we got a phone call saying AXS was interested. We had even heard rumors that Mark Cuban was a fan of the show. The next thing you know, we were picked up for the third season.
JW: What makes “Ex-Wives of Rock” so special?
BB: Personally, I think it’s the real and genuine camaraderie between us. Everything is relative and in the moment. It’s also not a forced or scripted show. No one tells us what to say or how to act or what to do. We never deprive the audience of what’s really going on in our lives. If we’re going through a tough time, we show that. We may argue and hate each other at times but we’re really like family and I think the audience can detect that bond. That’s what people can relate to and appreciate.
JW: What can fans expect from Season Three of “Ex-Wives of Rock”?
BB: In our world, there’s always something going on that’s funny and you get to see it all. All of the usual shenanigans and all of the drama. It opens when my book, “Dirty Rocker Boys” has come out and I’m doing my tour. I do a few interviews and a book signing in my hometown in Louisiana. You’ll get to see my family and my daughter, Taylar. It’s really cool.
JW: This year will mark the fifth anniversary of Jani Lane’s passing. What are some of your best memories with him?
BB: I have fun memories of our time together and the things that we did. We were so young and carefree and never thought about repercussions or the consequences of our decisions. I think about those things now and go, “Wow!” [laughs]. But at the time you just think, “No one can tell me what to do.” We made some hasty decisions that could have probably been thought through but that’s what makes them so special.
JW: What other projects are you currently working on?
BB: I’m in the middle of talks for making the “Dirty Rocker Boys” into a movie of the week. I’m also working on second book deal that would include a continuation of the first. There are also a few ideas for TV shows that I’m putting together. It’s a really exciting time.
JW: Did you ever think you’d be exploring this part of your creative side?
BB: I knew when I first came out here that I was eventually going to be doing these things. I’ve always enjoyed writing but it wasn’t until about five years ago that I decided it was something I really wanted to do.
JW: What are you most looking forward to about the new season of “Ex-Wives of Rock?”
BB: I’m so excited that we have a new home in the States and that our American fans are going to see the third season. It was a bummer thinking that we were done, but we’re all super stoked and grateful to AXS-TV for giving us this opportunity!
