This week at her Pacific Palisades boutique, the lovely and talented Elyse Walker welcomed her clients to a special sneak peek of designers Scott Studenberg and John Targon’s latest Baja East collection, Resort ’16.
Actress Eva Amurri came out to lend her support, as did Miss Universe 2013, Olivia Culpo, who showed up in a striking Lanvin coat and a stunning Givenchy dress. Elyse herself was dressed in one of Baja East’s ponchos from their latest collection and looked utterly fabulous as she helped to celebrate the clothing line that was first launched in October of 2013.
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominated designers have a unique take on fashion and bring a laid back west coast meets city style vibe into every one of their luxe fabrications. Each piece is constructed in a creative way to present you with options so that you can build your wardrobe from day to night. Their niche is “loose luxury”. The gender obsolescent, his and hers blurred fashion line that they tap into, allows for a certain versatility that’s avant-garde. From turtleneck dresses to knee length button-downs, each design is relevant and brought into existence to make a statement.
John said that when it comes to emerging trends, it’s not something that he touches on. His inspiration comes more from encouraging people to try things out by giving them permission to break through the mold of how other people see them.
Partnering with Elyse to celebrate the launch of Resort ’16 was the perfect winning combination being that she’s known both John and Scott for many years. Elyse’s fashion forward ingenuity allowed her to dream up FORWARD. In collaboration with Michael Mente, CEO and founder of REVOLVE clothing, FWRD.com is an online experience where one can go for luxury designer apparel, bags, shoes and accessories. It’s an ideal virtual destination that brings you the best of each designer.
Elyse has also teamed up with Sable Banoun to provide women with, The Perfext. The Perfext brings you 10 perfect must-have items for every season. Elyse said that since there’s a new designer out every day, having a point of view and staying true to your vision is so important when it comes to fashion.
When asked what this innovator imagines for the future, she said she’s happy to see that the flare leg and platforms are making their comeback, but what’s “in style” at the moment doesn’t really matter. Anybody can tap into style. If you want to be fashionable, be carefree. Most importantly, have fun.
