There’s nothing like New Year’s Eve on South Beach. A SoBe New Year’s Eve s something everyone – whether you’re a party animal or not – should experience at least once in a lifetime.
You gotta eat, too, so with that in mind, here are some of my favorite SoBe restaurants to help bring in 2016.
Red, the Steakhouse
My favorite SoBe steakhouse will feature Chef Peter Vauthy’s Kobe Tartare, Butternut Squash Shooter, Mussels Diavlo, Beluga Caviar, New Zealand Rack of Lamb, Lobster Fra Diavlo, Meatballs with the famous “Red Lead” sauce and, of course, tender Aged Certified Angus Beef Brand Prime Steaks.
The New Year’s Eve dinner is $199 per person excluding tax and gratuity. Separate drink pairings are also available for $50 or $100.
Essensia, The Palms Hotel & Spa
Chef Venoy Rogers III is my favorite chef of 2015. His eight-course tasting menu will feature local and sustainably-sourced ingredients put into dishes inspired by Miami’s mix of North and South American, Caribbean and European cultures.
There will be two seatings: 6:00pm (six courses, $95) and 9:00pm (eight courses and champagne toast, $195). For the late seating, the evening begins with an amuse bouche, paired with a signature organic craft cocktail, and is followed by three appetizer courses, an intermezzo course, two main courses, and a choice of dessert. The evening concludes with a champagne toast and New Year’s countdown.
Deco Blue, Stanton South Beach
The only beachfront restaurant on Ocean Drive, Deco Blue will be feature a menu of fresh seafood dishes and American fare such as Scallop Crude with Fresh Orange, King Crab Cake, Grilled Salmon Salsa Checca, as well as Cream of Mushroom Soup with Gnocchi, NY Strip Steak, and Veal Saltimbocca a la Roma.
First seating is from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM and includes dinner course and champagne toast ($80); Second seating is from 9:00 PM – 10:30 PM and includes dinner course and champagne for the countdown ($120). A live DJ will entertain.
The Local House, Sense Beach House
The Local House – Sense Beach House’s in-house restaurant is tucked into the corner of 4th and Ocean Drive. The beach-chic restaurant will be offer a New Year’s Eve menu that includes Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as Lobster Bisque with Sherry & Old Bay Croutons, Grilled Filet Mignon over Lobster Mashed Potatoes topped with Crispy Shallots, Crab Bronzino with Sa ron Rouille over a White Bean Cassoulet, and sweets such as Key Lime Pie with Coconut Whip Cream and Chocolate Cake with a Raspberry Coulis.
Dinner is $115 per person.
