This week, you’ll be able to catch two of this year’s Oscar-winning performances on DVD and Blu-ray. “Room” and “The Danish Girl” are both coming out this Tuesday, and brought first-time Academy Award wins to two up-and-coming actresses. Brie Larson won the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of a mother trying to protect her son as they live trapped within a small room, while Alicia Vikander won Best Supporting Actress for “The Danish Girl,” in which she plays the wife of transgender painter Lili Elbe (Eddie Redmayne was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in that role). The outstanding “Rocky” sequel “Creed” is also new on DVD this week, and Sylvester Stallone losing the Best Supporting Actor Oscar to Mark Rylance for “Bridge of Spies” was easily the biggest upset of the night. Other new releases this week include the raunchy holiday comedy “The Night Before,” the Michael Caine led drama “Youth,” and “Legend,” a comedy/thriller in which Tom Hardy plays a duel role. Read more about those movies and this week’s other new releases below.
