The four original members of Duran Duran, singer Simon Le Bon, keyboardist Nick Rhodes, bassist John Taylor, and drummer Roger Taylor, announced today on their website they will be hitting the road for an extensive North American tour next year to support their new critically acclaimed album ‘Paper Gods.’ It is said to be one of the most anticipated tours for 2016. Chic, featuring guitarist Nile Rodgers, will be the special guests for most of the tour dates. Rodgers was also the producer on ‘Paper Gods’ and has history working with Duran Duran. Additional special guest acts still to be announced.
The Paper Gods Tour will be divided into two legs and begins March 28, 2016 in Durham, NC. The first leg of the tour runs through April and has the band playing shows up and down the East Coast of the U.S. into Canada, including stops in Brooklyn, NY, Atlanta, GA, Austin, TX and Montreal. The second leg of the Paper Gods tour returns out west in July and continues on through early August with show stops in Las Vegas, Irvine, San Diego, and Toronto to name a few. The only local performance by Duran Duran will be April 8, 2016 in Washington, DC, at the Verizon Center. Tickets go on sale Saturday, December 12, 2015.

A review of the band’s recent Leeds show by The Guardian in the U.K., raved that “everything that is wonderful about pop music seems to occupy the triumphant final half hour, as a sea of blondes, brunettes and husbands come together to bellow ‘Planet Earth,’ ‘Girls on Film,’ ‘Rio,’ and the rest. Every arm is raised skyward in a giant communal bonding, an audiovisual illustration of Le Bon’s insistence that music is a healing force.” The album ‘Paper Gods’ was released September 11 and hit No. 10 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album chart, which was Duran Duran’s highest-charting album in their 22 year career.
