The Duke vs. North Carolina live stream online and televised 2016 NCAA basketball game arrives on Wednesday night as the two teams continue their historic rivalry. Right now, the Tar Heels lead the conference at 10-2 overall but the Blue Devils have been on a roll lately and are 8-4 in conference, trying to move up. Both teams are currently among the Top 25 with Carolina ranked fifth overall and Duke at No. 20, making this yet another potentially epic clash between the two schools. The 2016 NCAA basketball live streaming and televised matchup arrives through ESPN networks on Wednesday night.
According to The News & Observer on Feb. 16, tonight’s game takes place at the Smith Center in Chapel Hill with the Tar Heels the favorite. The two teams are considered an even matchup in many aspects including the power forward and center positions. However, UNC seems to have the edge when it comes to point guard Joel Berry who will be matched up against Derryck Thornton of the Blue Devils. Berry currently averages 12.2 points per game and 4.2 assists per game, while Thornton is averaging 8.1 points and 2.7 assists a game. Thornton came to the Blue Devils earlier than anticipated and is continuing to blossom, but it has been considered a breakout season for Berry who is known for hitting some major clutch second-half shots.
While UNC has that matchup seemingly in the bag, the other guard spot features Duke’s star Grayson Allen against Marcus Paige of the Heels. Allen currently has team-leading scoring of 20.6 points per game and averages 4.7 rebounds a game. Allen hit a game-winning shot against Virginia which has been part of the team’s surge, so don’t be surprised if he’s the go-to guy for Duke tonight. In terms of the benches and intangibles, News & Observer says UNC takes the matchup. The Tar Heels go 10 players deep giving them a big advantage if tonight’s game is one of those that goes several overtimes.
The point spread currently has the Tar Heels favored at home by as much as six points on the line. Duke is 11-12-1 overall against the spread and 4-3 when on the road. As for Carolina, they’re 9-14-2 overall and 6-8-2 against the spread when at home. On the over/under, the current total is around 163-1/2 at a few sports books. Future odds have UNC as the top team to win it all, tied with Oklahoma at 15 to 2 odds. Duke is currently listed at 15 to 1, tying them with Virginia for sixth. Of note, Duke’s forward Amile Jefferson continues to remain out of action.
