Drafthouse Films brings the cult classic Dangerous Men to Blu-ray and DVD

There are a ton of horrible movies out there, but then there are the so bad it’s good genre. What makes these films work is that most of the time the filmmaker had no idea they were making a bad film. There are few that have the same history as Dangerous Men though and now thanks to Drafthouse Films the world will finally get to experience this one of a kind film.

Dangerous Men follows a woman becomes an avenger of the night seeking to kill all dangerous men who would harm women after her fiancé is killed and she is almost sexually assaulted. Meanwhile, her fiancé’s cop brother also seeks to bring down the biker gang associated with the murder. To say this film is bad is an understatement and exactly why it is so awesome. For those that have never heard of this film director John S. Rad took 26 years to get this film completed starting it in the late 70s. Make no mistake this was not because it fit in with the story but instead due to money. In the end when the film was released it only showed in a couple of theaters and made next to nothing. Years later the film became a cult hit, but sadly director Rad did not live long enough to see it get the release it deserved. Thankfully fans can add this bizarre film to their collection now. Everything about this film is so bad and in turn so awesome. The acting is some of the worst ever making it laughable throughout despite not meaning to be. There are so many strange choices of scenes that make no sense to the story including a random belly dance sequence that will baffle the viewer.

The most standout of the ridiculous is that of the epic fight sequences that are so badly choreographed and executed you will want to watch them over and over. There is a signature choke hold that is used that would do nothing to someone in real life in the way it is used which makes it all the better in the film. Another strange direction is of the story itself. It seems as though the film is telling one story and then suddenly changes direction and ends abruptly on a whole different set of characters. You might think it was due to the time he took to make the film and while this might be the case it seems on purpose and it is glorious.

Those that have never heard of or seen this film need to change this in your life. Know that the film is horrible on every level and that is why it works. As if the film wasn’t enough of a reason to by this film it sports numerous special features including commentary, interviews, trailers, a rare appearance by Rad on access TV, a documentary on the 2005 release of the film and more. Get out there and grab your copy of Dangerous Men, you will not be disappointed.
